Shopmonk Macbook Pro Australian Stock - Legit?

Interested in picking up a macbook pro off shopmonk. Advertisement says that its AU Stock with 2 years warranty but it will be shipping from Singapore? In regards to shipping from Singapore would I also need to pay GST?

Lastly am I able to claim TRS?

Cheers!

  • I have just ordered one from Shopmonk, they confirmed the following:

    • The MacBook Pro (2016 15" 256GB Space Grey model) is AU stock with 2 years warranty. (Not sure whether this is the model you are interested in)
    • Even though it might be delivered from overseas, you don't need to pay GST.
    • won't be able to claim GST, since they will only issue non-tax invoice.
    • i just dont understand how its aus stock but shipped from overseas.

in saying that, does it mean we can take it to the apple store if we run into any problems?

      • Apple do have international warranty. The best case is it is a legit aus stock and we will have 2 years warranty under AU consumer law.
Worse case can still get 1 years warranty.

        • Apple Care?

        • @Kangal: AppleCare shouldn't be a problem, I have bought AppleCare from Singapore for my MacBook Pro (which was purchased in AUS). And it was working just fine.

      • Not sure where the warranty is from but all MacBooks have a 12 months international warranty

        • Can you buy apple care for shopmonk or Kogan MacBooks?

  • +1

More update: My MacBook Pro has shipped and it was shipped from their VIC warehouse according to AusPost. Will give another update once I received my MacBook. Only took them 1 business day to handle my purchase, pretty damn fast.

    • Update on my side, was able to get a mate who has a mate working at apple to purchase me a custom 2017 MBP 13 with 16gb ram and 512ssd for $2.8k on employee discount, less 10% GST when I go overseas total = $2520.

Just looking out for a deal on an Aorus gtx1080 gaming box now.

Keep us updated on your MBP.

BTW: Thanks for replying to me on whirlpool lol.

      • That's awesome! Well done, such a good deal!

I was suspecting how come so many ppl looking for MBP lately :p

      • Btw … I have got a Akitio Node (thunderbolt 3 enable) as eGPU box (around AUD$350 6 months ago). work like a charm. You might want to consider that :)

        • Are you currently running that with a mbp?

Looked at many egpu options, but leaving for Germany next year so I only have 30kg and little luggage space hence choosing the aorus gaming box.

        • @Shook5Yen:
Yea using it with my old MBP (only thunderbolt 2 tho, so using a thunderbolt 3 to 2 adaptor). Still very good performance compare to the Intel HD Graphic chip. It supports GTX 1080 Ti (only certain brand), although I am only using it with RX480

    • Any updates? How'd it go! Looking at getting one from Shopmonk too.

      • Still waiting for my MacBook Pro, hopefully will get it tmw. Will keep you posted :)

        • how did you go? have you got your macbook pro yet?

        • +1

@gewse: Just got my MacBook Pro an hours ago, definitely brand new, check my serial number, it is AU stock. So far so good.

        • @airly: Great to hear. Did it come with the 1 year Apple warranty?
