Removable Cover for Garage Remote Control

Hi all
I have a garage remote control where it does not have a sliding cover, hence sometimes I accidentally press it if it's in my pocket, or wife's handbag….etc. So this becomes a concern when I sometimes may accidentally open the garage while I am at home at night without knowing.

Is there such thing as a removable sliding cover that I can attach to the garage remote control? or perhaps something to cover the buttons so that I don't press it too easily?

there's some $5 learning remotes on ebay with sliding covers, eg: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142624761054
BUT… you would need to check if same frequency for learning from what you have got.

    • This, there's a bunch of generic ones out there, just check they're compatible and they should take all of a minute to program.

  • Hi,

Mobile Phone Cases are a great way to house Remotes so they do get deployed by accident. (Some even have belt Clips).

Next time you are at a large shopping centre see what those places with 100's of mobile cases have on offer that fits the bill.

Some cases have a Magnetic Flip opening so you can access it easily when
    you need to.

Just leave it in the car? why carry it with you?

I'm sure you could get a piece of plastic from say an ice cream container, cut it into a square, and tape it onto the front of the remote with some gaffa tape.

  • You don't say what door opener you have but look at Kogan. I bought some door remotes there that have sliding covers to protect the buttons. I recall they were pricey but much cheaper than genuine remotes. Kogan have them on special with free delivery occasionally. Here is an example but I don't know if this suits your door https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/ptx-5-compatible-garage-door-re… The cover slides to cover the buttons.
