Woolworths Cancelled eGift Card Purchase Due to Bank Not Confirming Details

I bought online in total about $800 Woolworth Egift card with 5% discount over the last year and spent them all for grocery shopping.
Now, Woolworth stoped to sell the Egift cards to me. Their excuse is that they must check every customer details with their bank. My bank didn't confirm my details in 5 business days, so Woolworth canceled my transaction.

Does anyone else has similar experiences?
What can I do?

Cheers
Alex

  • Ring the bank and confirm the transaction.

  • I've had a similar experience; but they did not contact my bank. I just call them up and told them the transaction was legit. They said their system flagged the transaction as potentially fraudulent, so needed to confirm.

I purchase using my Amex, so didn't really need any bank involved.

  • Ordered some yesterday, still haven't got them…

  • Where did you buy the gift card ? Is this via cash reward?

  • Go ask your bank

  • I contacted the bank. The money is hold in the account, pending WoolWorths withdrawal. I never heard a shop sending email to bank to confirm a card holder account. It is the bank responsibility to protect the account holder.

    • Yes but it is the shop's responsibility to protect itself.

  • Same problem. They said contact my bank (Amex). Amex confirmed nothing wrong with my account. Woolworths then cleared it. It was a nuisance as I had to ring Woolworths 3 Times to sort it out. Hope it doesn’t happen again.

    • Was it a plat edge that you used?

  • Yes.
