Sound Bar for LG TV

I bought an LG OLED TV during the Boxing Day sale and I am not entirely happy with the sound quality. I would appreciate any suggestions on a sound bar that would work with this TV, budget about $300.

    doh…… any soundbar would works

  • $300 budget means more average sound quality

At that price range an old Logitech Z550 would blow any soundbar out of the water.

  • I would recommend you get a sound bar with an ARC HDMI port.
Just more convenient to use 1 remote then 2 seperate (TV and sound bar).
That would mean you need to stretch your budget abit more

I am in the same boat as you and have very little knowledge about sound systems/bars. Picked up the B7 LG OLED TV and the sound is pretty average, i'm not in too much of a rush to get a sound bar but wonder if it's better to try get it while there is still some sales going on? Any recommendations for something with the ARC HDMI/Dolby Atmos utility between $500-700?

Buy a 2nd hand Yamaha amp with remote & some quality 2nd hand stereo speakers for the same amount & you will be miles in front.

completely second that. i have the B6 from 2016 and sony BD was doing a much better job of it than any sound bar, recently upgraded to sony amp and jamo speakers

    • Where does one buy a 2nd hand Yamaha amp?
Recommend some models perhaps? :D HDMI would be ideal….will plug it into a PC too.

  • Thanks very much, will look into the amp option.

  • I have a Yamaha home theatre and I have it connected to the TV using optical cable. I will have to use a second remote for the amp but the sound is a lot better. Thanks for your suggestions, it made me consider using what I already had.

    • Wow, why were you even considering a sound bar? Have you got a good set of stereo speakers?

You can buy a universal remote & set it up so it will turn up the sound on the amp.
I have the Logitech Harmony 650 and it does the job great.

  • I was looking at a sound bar so that I could use one remote, the LG TV magic remote for both TV and sound bar. I found that the magic remote is capable of operating a Yamaha amplifier as a connected device. I am now able to control amplifier volume through the magic remote but it does not turn amplifier power on. Power has to be turned on either using the amplifier remote or through a soft button on the TV menu.
Thank you for your suggestion, I will also look into the Logitech universal remote.
