  • "Successful price beat order with Officeworks Online @ $51.28 with In-Store Pickup."

How do you get OW to price beat online?

    • Call them on 1300 OFFICE to place the order.

The OW pricematching experience always involves some hit & miss in my experience.

With the nearest Mwave store being 700kms from my nearest OfficeWorks store, I suspect they will want to factor in freight costs into the pricematch, even if it is an instore pickup.

This drive is very slow on writing.

Thanks for the info. Currently owning a 32GB Sandisk Extreme USB drive which has impressive read and write speed, I don't think I can put up with slow speed of this USB drive.

      • Sandisk Extreme USB drive for the win!

    • Yeah I have a couple of these to transfer things between macbook and pc and find them agonizingly slow at writing.

Just tested mine, large file writing begins at 48MB/s for the first GB, falls to about 20MB/s after that.
Small files struggle below 10MB/s, even lower, depending on how small those files are.

  • Have been looking for a usb c + a drive at a reasonable price for some time!

  • Design is pretty flimsy. Sandisk are not good at sliding USB sticks.

Inserting it into the USB slot pushes the head back in. You have to use a finger to jam the slider to prevent it from retracting back in. This is going to eventually lead to wear and tear and permanent damage, just like with the Extreme and Extreme Pro sticks.

    • I can second that. Have a Sandisk where it always wants to retract when inserting into port.

The beauty of flash is no moving parts unlike magnetic media. This retraction introduces an unnecessary moving part, and additional point for failure.

      • I bought a 128GB Extreme Pro a few years ago for $100 USD + shipping, and within 6 months the slider no longer retracts/extends. It's not useable anymore.

Tried to contact Sandisk for warranty, and after they got bought by WD, their site was no longer taking RMAs from Australia. The form you fill in does not allow you to select Australia as your country. They have an Asia/Pac site, but when you go to RMA, it takes you to the North American page which is not where we go for warranty. So I have a useless paperweight. This was the Pro, which was released after Extreme, the stick they already got a lot of complaints about for flimsy design, and the same problem was not fixed.

I haven't given up on Sandisk as a brand. I just won't be buying any more retractable USBs. I have this Dual USB btw. It doesn't look like it will break like the Extreme series, but it is annoying trying to insert it into a port, and I fear in time it will get damaged, but in a different way to the Extremes.

    • Just wondering if permanent damage to the sliding mechanism would be covered in 5 year warranty?

      • I tried contacting Sandisk. Problem is, after WD bought them, their website changed, and all RMA links take you to the NA RMA link. The NA branch of course isn't taking RMA from Aussies.

  • Would appreciate if anyone can point to a drive with higher write speed and non moving parts for comparison at same price point?

    • They definitely exist, but I'm not sure about dual USB.

I know Samsung makes dual USB, but I think it has moving parts too, and I can't vouch that it will be faster. Samsung USB sticks in my experience haven't been all that fast.

You can do dual USB without a slider. I have a Samsung that does that also, but it's microUSB, and the speed is similar to this.

      • Don't really need the Dual Drive functionality. Anything with good speed and USB 3.1 option would be good… My order is ready for collection today :D

        • Patriot makes fast USB sticks. Not sure if it's 3.1 or not. But you can expect SATA SSD speeds. They do up to 512GB.

          Not cheap though.

  • Can't give a faster option or in the same capacity, but Sony makes this.

I'd be keen on it if the silicone caddy was replaced with a keyring hole through metal housing…
