  • I tried their Feleci for the first time last week, a pretty good coffee. Normally I like Campos but this is a nice alternative, and at this price it's cheaper, too. I see they don't allow Click & Collect, any idea if this deal is good when visiting them at the Bowen Hills café?

I wouldn't count on it, but maybe. Maybe midweek when the office staff are there, and they can check with them, but not the cafe staff. They are pretty clueless. I buy green beans from them all the time, but the first time I went to the factory to have a look as I'm pretty well just down the road, and they had no idea, and tried charging me roasted bean rates for green beans… So now I just get them shipped to me free…

But they are a fantastic source for green beans where ever you live, with the free shipping. And they occasionally get Cuban beans too. Pretty easy to order in $50 lots. They also have reasonably regular coupons on their mailing list too.

      • What do they charge a kilo for green beans ? what sort of roaster do you use Mobe1969 ?

      • just found the raw beans price. still interested in your roasting methods though

        • If you don't have a hot-air popcorn maker then Di Bella can set you up with a roaster, too!

        • Yeah, pretty cheap, like $10 - $15 a kg.

I bought a used Genecafe roaster from Gumtree for a good price. Works well, but you do need to watch it. I do it by temp plus colour plus crack sound, then into emergency stop mode and empty onto a baking tray to cool. I don't overcook too often, unless I'm distracted doing other things…

        • @Mobe1969:
All jokes aside about using a hot-air popcorn maker, have you ever tried that? If so, does it work very well? I've never known anyone who has actually done it.

        • @Chazzozz: No, I've never tried, nor do I have a popcorn maker. Honestly it seemed a bit too much of a fire hazard when I was reading. Not to mention all by eye/colour.

      • Concur their free postage on $50+ orders is hard to beat - pricing is good but only 3 real green bean choices?!?! De-caf doesn't count. Very surprised they have so little on offer.

Yeah, their range is oddly short at the moment, and I was wondering why (might be worth contacting them to ask when new varieties coming in). They get new ones all the time though and the range varies. But I admit, the last time I looked and ordered end of last month they were down to about 4 varieties, and I'd never seen that few before.

EDIT: Even their single origin roasted range is tiny at the moment. I've emailed them to see what is up

        • @Mobe1969: Cheers for feedback, would be interested to see feedback - normally I've used CoffeeSnobs but their postage has crept up and now for a 10kg order it's a fifth of the bean cost, so these guys are good on post and the beans aren't overpriced to make up for that - thus a bit of a bargain.

@Nikko: Yeah, I'd definitely recommend them. FYI, these are all the green varieties I've gotten from them the last 2 years:
          Peru Organic Green Beans
Kenya Twiga AB Washed Green Beans
Ethiopia Guji Red Natural Green Beans
          Rwanda Buliza Green Beans
Indian Robusta Parchment AB Washed Green Beans
Costa Rica SHB EP Green Beans
          Brazil Cerrado Green Beans
          Cuba Serrano Green Beans
          Nicaragua SHG EP Green Beans
          Colombia Herrera
          Peru Machine Cleaned Certified Organic
          Ethiopia Djimma Natural Green Beans
          Honduras HG

So as you can see, they have had a lot of varieties. And these aren't all the ones they have had, just the ones I've bought.

Geez, given I just have 1 coffee a day, and my wife also, and they are generally 3kg bags, that is a lot of coffee I've gone through in 2 years…

@Mobe1969: Awesome reply - much thanks. I'll make them my go to as thats excellent, also love that they give you the option of buying in 1kg lots, CS is 2.5kg min. - which for us (my wife and I are the same as you and your better half, 1 coffee each per day) - can be a tad restrictive.

          Much thanks for your info!

        • @Nikko:

I got a response from them.

"Thank you for your enquiry, and apologies for the bare selection of raw coffee at the moment.

We are currently transitioning some of the raw coffees we have on offer, so should have a new selection of 8 core raw coffees available in the next couple of weeks.

We will also start including the monthly roasted coffee origins as green beans, so this will change monthly (to keep a bit of variety!)

As for the reduction in the roasted single origins, this was a conscious decision to focus on smaller producers, exclusive coffees and exciting, unique micro lot coffees in our showcase program. We felt refining this to highlight two very special coffees with different roast profiles was a good opportunity to engage with coffee lovers of all types and share the stories of the innovative coffee producers doing some incredible things with their smaller farms.

When we had 4 per month it was a bit of an overload!

Green bean sales and our showcase roasted coffee are here to stay and we hope to continually improve the offering. Feedback is invaluable so appreciate you getting in touch."

@Mobe1969: Much thanks for your following up and for taking the time to post up - have placed an order and will do another as soon as they get a lil more green. Cheers and thanks.

  • The 20% discount unfortunately doesn’t appear to be applicable for green beans….any opportunity of this offer at all ? I normally source my beans from CS too but wouldn’t mind trying Di Bella.

    • Well whatever way you look at it they are a great buy all year round, and send plenty of coupons on their newsletter, and have a great variety of single origin over time. The 20% discount on the roasted beans is a good deal, especially if you can get a small $50 order and free shipping. I don't buy roasted so no use to me though, but it is good people are seeing these people as a viable source

Don't forget to stick your RACQ number in as a promo code for another 10% off too

    • $55.44 for 2kg of roasted beans delivered

    • Geez I didn't know about that one. I wish I had!
