Optus iPad Plan + Netflix

Hi

Recently we got 100gb + 128gb ipad Optus deal ($52.50 per month) and Optus state we can stream Netflix on standard definition without utilising our data as long as we use our mobile device/tablet device. From what I understand from reading random posts, any data transmitted from the tablet to t.v or any other devices would count towards your data.

It's bit frustrating trying to watch a show on a tablet but I wondered if we use a apple digital av adapter - connect hdmi cable and connect the tablet to the device, we should be able to mirror the exact show without using any data? Anyone able to shed any light on this?

    If you have a apple tv, you could use airplay to play netflix on tv. also check if netflix app supports airplay.

    If ur just mirroring the screen then won't use data, correct.

    Airplaying netflix will be within your cap, chromecasting netflix will not. Just how the 2 technologies work.

    Grabbed the same plan, I stream direct from Netflix through a AppleTV (4K version) and it doesn't count towards my data. Just log into the settings in to Netflix and change your definition to 480p.

    My theory is that the Netflix App on the iPad and AppleTV would probably be seen as the same application from Optus.

    I have the sim installed in a 4G router.

      I managed to get on the Optus plan, mentioned above, finally!
      Current paying $52.50 pm with 100gb and free ipad. Contract is for 2 years.
      Give them a call. I signed up during their specials.

        thanks mate, today I tried and they offering 25 gigs data with for $50 but no free Netflix :-x and to get free Netflix thingy you gotta pay $75 with same 25gigs, will try some other day now.
