Help Choosing NBN ISP - Is Fetch TV Worth It?

I am looking to switch from Telstra ADSL to NBN at home
I am happy to pay slightly more for better service and quality/consistent access
Obvious choice is OzB fav ISP Aussie Broadband
Can get one month free etc
But I currently have a Telstra TV service and am curious about Fetch TV
Some providers offer including iiNet and it doesn't cost much
Are any of the other ISP that offer Fetch more reliable than iiNet e.g. Internode
Open to all suggestions

Summary

ABB - 1000Gb @ 100Mbps + phone = $105/month - free month = around $100/mth for 24 mths
(Possibly -$20 to go to 500Gb/month which might be enough atm)
OR
iiNet - Unlimited @ 100Mbps + Phone + Fetch $105/month

Is fetch TV worth getting or is Aussie quality service worth sticking with and skip Fetch?
Thanks all for your thoughts

  • AussieBroadband seems expensive, isn't Telstra cheaper?

  • When I first got NBN I went with Optus with Fetch TV as there was not a great choice of NBN ISP's back then. I never used Fetch TV. I am now with Aussie Broadband and love it, the service itself and the customer support are great. I was lucky enough to get the 1 free month + 6 months double data whirlpool deal.

  • actually just get TPG which will probably be the same as iiNet except cheaper. Not sure about TPG support but i can't think of a reason why i'd need to contact them.

You could always look at the guide and see if there's anything you'd like to watch:

Most people won't need unlimited, I'm a heavy user and never get anywhere close to my 500GB a month allowance.

I'm with Internode NBN on a FTTB 50Mbps plan and I am very happy. Extremely stable and always fast.

Have you ever had unlimited service though? Because IME I quickly found ways to use way over 1TB which was my former cap despite not approaching it previously usually. It was much better than I was expecting.

      • how do you use over 1TB?

    • fair call - we don't currently use much but just upgraded to 4k tv and if internet is more reliable will be watching HD streming which will increase - still 500gb should be enough

If you go with iinet I'd recommend not going on a contact. iinet service isn't what it used to me.

After a bunch of outages I switched from iinet to ABB and haven't looked back.

    • exactly the kind of feedback I was after
      Thank you

  • I've been with iiNet and didn't like them. Was difficult trying to cancel too. Now NBN with AussieBB and it's very good. But I get Fetch as an add-on to Optus Mobile plan.

    • another vote for ABB over iinet - Thank you
