Vodafone Network Issues

Does anyone have issues with their mobile network with Vodafone?

I have been with them for ages now and this is an ongoing problem for me.

I am receiving messages an hour or two after they have been sent and it also takes the same to reach the recipient.

People have also complained that I can not be reached when trying to call. It constantly tells them that my phone is switched off.

This happens at home and also at work in Syd CBD. I don’t see why this should be happening. My phone constantly displays 3-4 bars of reception and it has not been switched off.

Does anybody experience this?

  • might be because vodafone joined with three, and three is terrible in some places. but i'm not sure.. maybe they kept their own towers etc. could be a prob on your side, try factory reset, turn off your phone for 10mins, take out sim etc. and try again. that's what happened when none of text messages got through or i couldn't receive any, so i rang three live support and they instructed me to do that and everything was fine again.

    • just to clarify,
although vodafone bought out 3, they are still using separate network towers.

To the OP: go visit ur nearest 3/VF store, explain your situation to them

  • You've just described my experience with Voda too, what an awful network! Plus, it's nothing unusual for me to completely lose signal during any decent downpour of rain! Can't blame my phone either, coz it's happened on the last 3x phones I've owned! If it wasn't for the fact that most of my friends & family use them (v2v freecalls) I'd drop Voda like a hot spud!!!

Funny, the missus is on Three but has none of the same problems! I'd change to them but the roaming in Newcastle for Three is shite!

  • where abouts is home located OP?

Usually its because of network congestion. They have to find that balance between coverage and cost. Unfortunatly at the moment for you it seems they're not balanced.

    Things that affect coverage
    - increase of mobile phones in the area (particularly smart phones)
    - increase of mobile broadband in the area
    - signals from other services using the same frequency

Alot of people i know have issues when school holidays start

  • I live in Liverpool but I have been having this issue for a few years now and only starting to get real bad now. It's not my mobile because Ive changed phones twice within this time.

Doesn't matter where I am to be honest, this issue will still occur.

Do you think it will be possible to get this resolved? - Or do you guysthink it's a network issue vodafone has.

A little relief to know it's not just me.

  • The problem what you said exists in many big citys,I think it will be resolved with developing of the Communication Technology。

  • I do have some problems with delayed SMS also. But not with the not-able-to-reach.

However, this is a problem with Vodafone 3G network for few months now: http://bit.ly/f3TWPi (from Zdnet via MacTalk twitter post)

  • they are having problems see

a summary that I found as a work around until they resolve this is to turn off the 3g and see how that goes

  • You get what you pay for. :-)

  • I have the solution! DONT USE 3G, switch 3G off and use 2G. Only switch to 3G when u need to do something web based ie emails, facebook etc. The 3G network in AUS with VODA is SHIT!
