Anyone Know Much about Wine?

Hi All,

Many years ago I bid on some bottles of Hewitt family vineyards 2002 Chardonnay. Special Lleyton Hewitt editions.

Anyway just happen to be clearing out my cupboards and found them…. was curious whether was worth anything and did a bit of googling.

Found an article that stated only 6000 bottles made and majority went overseas.

Curious whether they are worth much?

Cheers

I found this article online.

Nah it's worthless, give ya a fiver for it.

Good quality red wine (ie. wine cellared in oak barrels) can improve with age.
My family enjoyed a 1996 Barossa Shiraz for Christmas lunch. It was very nice.

Unfortunately white wine does not generally improve with age.
(With one exception I know of - Riesling).
Although some Chardonnay can be oaked, I have never heard of any cellaring recommendations for it.
I doubt it will be drinking well now, but crack open a bottle and give it a try.

Let us know if it still tastes like Chardonnay (or vinegar).

    I'm a wine enthusiast.

The more wine I drink the more enthusiastic I become.

  • This sort of gimmick wine is unlikely to have much monetary value - particularly given the age of the wine now. If in doubt you could talk to a wine merchant and see what they think. I agree with the others, open it up and drink it. Wine is to be enjoyed.

  • Celebrity endorsed wine is a bit like celebrity endorsed perfume, cheap ##it!

  • Chardonnay ages beautifully - the flavour rounds out and gets richer. But kept in a cupboard, even if it's under screwcap, it's unlikely to be in good shape after 15 years. Why not crack a bottle and have a go? :)
