Sydney Water - $35 Service Interruption Credit

Moved to Forum: Original Link

This might not be a bargain per se but I thought it's worth being made aware of.

I recently had a water supply disruption and later a $35 credit appeared on my bill. So I looked it up and found below on Sydney Water website:

• A $35 rebate if you have one planned or unplanned interruption for over five hours.
• A full credit of your water service charge for the next 12 months (four quarters), if you have three or more unplanned interruptions of over one hour in a year.

In most cases, we automatically identify affected properties and credit your next bill. If you haven’t received a rebate and think you’re entitled to one, please call us on 13 20 92.

There are other kinds of rebates as well such as Low Pressure, Wastewater Overflow and Dirty Water.

There is a possibility that they don't automatically credit this to your bill. So if you had a service interruption and didn't get the credit, remember to ring them up!

    Seems good.

If only electricity companies did this because they're supplying third world continuity to my residence whilst charging Australia's ludicrous energy prices that Liberal and Labour delivered to you.

Well water does fall from the sky, with water being free in most western countries.

  • I got an $80 credit for sewage running over my yard. I don't think that was a good deal.

    • You've got free fertiliser as well as $80 credit? i envy you ;P

  • No such thing from Water Corp in WA :( . We've had three maintenance outages in the past 6 months that have each lasted around 6-7 hours - we've received about a day's notice each time, but Water Corp's attitude is well, sorry about that, but you'll have to work around it (bad luck if you've got something happening at home where you must have the water on, or didn't check your letterbox the day before and see the notification card and all of a sudden, the water's off nearly all day!). That's in addition to several unplanned outages in the last year or so with burst pipes etc (probably due to the age of the pipes in our suburb).

We also regularly experience brown/dirty water and have to call them up to get someone to come out and flush the mains, but no rebates/credits there either.
