Esperance Western Australia

Hi All.

Thinking of heading to Esperance in WA for a long weekend. Anyone been? Is it worth the 15 hour round trip from Perth?

Any tips on what to see/do?

Already visited margaret river albany etc.

Cheers

    If you like camping, fishing, beaches, outdoor activities then yes. There are some incredible national parks, beaches, and wilderness areas. Recommend stopping in at Fitzgerald River National Park for a night or two on the way, it's one of WA's most diverse and beautiful (and large) national parks and most people have never been there. Great facilities for camping too.

    If those things don't interest you then it is probably not worth the time, there is really not much else to do there. Esperance is not like Margaret River or Albany where there are a lot of other tourist activities like wineries and restaurants.

  • Is it worth the 15 hour round trip from Perth?

    Only one way to find out!

    • no there is another way, and that's to ask someone who has done it already.

      GOTO :question

      • What one person likes/loves about the Esperance, another might not. So asking strangers isn't going to always score you the answer.

        • Guess hotel reviews are out the window then

          @unclesnake: Again, they need to be taken at who wrote them and your needs.

          For example, a raving review of a family hotel, giving it 5 stars, but for a single couple looking for a dirty weekend away, I don't think a place full of screaming kids would go down well ;)

          @JimmyF: you’re correct

  • Lucky Bay is nice

  • Too far for just a weekend. It means driving after dusk and the roos make it a deadly trip.
