Suggestions - Smart Home "on/off" Switch - Close Circuit (to Open/Close Garage) - Wi-Fi

Looking at a smart switch to trigger my garage door over wifi. My garage has a wired option where closing the circuit trigger the closing/opening action.

These Sonoff devices seem to pass through current.

I have SONOFF devices for plugs (240v switches).

I just need to close the circuit for a brief moment to trigger open or close actions.

Prefrably compatable with google home.

Any suggestions?

You are after a pulse or inching circuit. They sell these now also here.

    • that looks exactly like what I am after!
      Thanks @idontalwaysnotlie

    • It works like a charm!!!
      Awesome solution

Ok Google. Turn on garage (and it opens)

      • No probs. Glad you could get it to work. How did you power it?
Was it self powered by the line in or did you have to provide a usb power source?

        • Old 500miliamp USB

Could probably link to garage door with 5 to 30 volt input but not worth the hassle as I had old USB charger + doubly affair for garage door plug

          • @grang: Hi Grang,

I know this is an old thread but I was searching for a solution to make the garage door voice activated and ran into this thread.
May I please, if possible, ask for photos or instructions on the installation of the pulse/inch circuit connected to the garage door motor?

            Thank you

            • @Elias11: Sorry, I only saw this now
PM me and I will whatsapp you pictures

              • @grang: Hehehe
                Thank you kind sir.
I ended up with a dongle that connects to the garage door and it's been running for about 6 months

This looks like the sort of thing you migjht be after - I dunno, the remote seems more convenient to me..

If you're extra keen you could try using a Raspberry Pi + Relay, then you could control it from your smartphone, or probably Google Home / Alexa - here's a link to one I followed a while ago.
