Audi A6 - Is It Worth The $6000 to Get Newer Model?

Hi all looking at 2 vehicles.

Vehicle 1. Is a first release.

Vehicle 2. Is a facelifted version, nothing major, just headlights and tailights. Multimedia upgrade so you can connect an ipod. And the engine has 10% more power and torque.

Kms for both are roughly the same and 3 years difference.

Price difference is about 50% ie: $12k vs $18k.

I can get a flash tune which will more than compensate for the power $1k and ipod connection installed for $1k.

Opinions?

Vehicle is an Audi a6 4f/c6.

Thanks.

You would pay $1k for an ipod connection? That's crazy. I'm just shocked at that statement. Surely the cheaper model has some other connectivity? I just can't justify spending so much to listen to a bit of music. You could buy $1k to get your media in a format playable on the cheaper model….what is it CD? Cassette tape? Just record a few tracks at home and play them on your trip. You shouldn't be playing about with a ipod whilst driving anyway so wouldn't a CD with your top 10 tracks be easier to use.

I'd go with the cheaper model.

    • The $1k is with installing a device dension gayeway etc that will allow control of the ipod through the media inteface as well as usb etc.

      People still use ipods?

Lack of iPod connectivity or 'flash' stereo would be the least of your concerns with an old Audi

  • Are you looking at the Petrol or Diesel version?

If Diesel, maybe check on the servicing costs before you make a call, particularly the 6, 8 & 12 year service intervals.

  • Would say the f/l version is overpriced considering $12k for a 2004 (+/-) and $18k for 2007 same model with slightly different bodywork
Both still getting long in the tooth and both are over 10 years old

  • Flash tunes are great but depends on gearbox:

Are these multi-tronic or s-tronic? definitely do not get the multitronic car…

If your budget can allow $18k, I'd get the newer one. I don't think it's worth getting a dated model and then spending money on it to get the features you want.

    Good luck!

  • Its the 3.0 TDI Diesel.

The gearbox is the ZF 6 speed auto, similar to the xr6t falcon and BMW's.
