Are Telstra Cable Plan Prices Fixed?

Hi all,

I will be moving into a new house soon, and am needing to set up my internet. Most have suggested going with Telstra Cable.

My question is whether their plans have room for negotiation in terms of price or is it what their website say it is?

I'm interested in the $80/m 1000GB for 24 months.

Is anyone on something similar or know whether prices are flexible?

Thanks.

  • Some negotiation is likely possible.

Telstra Cable or NBN HFC? If the latter then I think you’ll be able to negotiate. If Telstra Cable I doubt it. There is a recent thread about how much people pay Telstra for cable on Whirlpool. Read it to see what people have been able to push for recently.

    • NBN HFC is not being sold for 6-9 months

    • link please?

  • +1

The only way you can get a discount, is if you get the service, threaten to terminate it within the cooldown period, then talk to the retention team, you will get offers for discounts and one time bonuses. However sales will never give a discount for new customers, not only do they not have the authority, but its not their job.

    • do you know what the cooling off period is? Im about to sign up for the same plan but couldnt get a better deal, since my TPG is finishing on the 4th of april i have to get something done this week. Optus has much better deal but dont know if their speed is better in my area(2099). thanks

  • Not related to price but they should give you 2.5TB.
I signed up on that exact plan and they 'upgraded' me as per the other Telstra thread.

  • I negotiated the price a few times, and got the speed boost added in at no additional cost, but I've been with them a while.
Online chat can offer different deals to call centre, so try both.

  • I wouldn't bother wasting your breath.

I have been trying to get a good deal for this plan for the last few months - no budge on online chat (multiple times), in store or on the phone. Specifically I was asking for a discount on the speed boost.

  • I have been with Telstra for the past 2 years on their 1000gb plan for $100… now my contract is ending I'm also looking at the 1000gb for $79. I have been very happy with Telstra cable's reliability and speed although sometimes I wish my area had Optus Cable as it's cheaper ($60 I believe)… even if I preferred Telstra, at least I could have some negotiation power…
