How Many Pics I Can Take from Nikon D5300 before Sending for Servicing

I have very little knowledge related to cameras. I do have a Nikon D5300 camera which was bought 2.5 years ago which might have taken 2000-3000 photos. So far there is no problem in the images or no dust particles in the viewfinder.
Do I have to service the camera ? if not when should I send it (after how many number of photos)?

D5300. its "D"ue for servicing every 5300 photos.

  • I always thought they only needing servicing if something wasn't working? I'm interested in the thoughts of those who have more knowledge regarding these things.

D5300 has a shutter life of 100k. That's when you need to replace the actual shutter otherwise it could fail anytime.

Normal servicing is just professional cleaning on the sensor. You can also have them to replace non-essential features like grips if they're falling off or something. I wouldn't bother unless I'm selling the camera or if the sensor is significantly dirty somehow and you can't clean it yourself.

  • no need servicing

but if you don't take it out often enough and not properly stored, then mold will eat your glass & sensor

2.5 years ago with estimated shots of 2500. so 1000 photos per year average with expected life of 100 000 shots. so at your rate you will need to replace the shutter in 97.5 years.

  • As mentioned, shutter life is 100k. You don't need to get things cleaned unless you get dirt on them - and even then you can get most off with an air blower or a sensor cleaning kit at worst.
