Are there any companies that price match car insurance quotes?

I know woolworths price match renewal notices, but are there any companies that price match your current policy?

    • Thanks for the help, but I just gave them a ring and they said they don't price match under any circumstances.

      • Funny story with Youi. I was shopping about to renew my house and contents insurance, as I was with RACQ and it jumped from $750 to $850 a year. Phoned Youi and they initially wanted $1200, but I wasn't interested because it was more expensive than my current policy. They said they could do it for $1000 a year, can we sign you up now? I was like…. that's still $150 more a year than what I'm paying now, why would I change to you?!? She even seemed taken aback that I wasn't willing to change to a more expensive insurer!

After the "let me speak to my manager" spiel they came back again with $800 or so, but I was that suspicious of how significant they dropped in price within a brief phone call that I decided to stick with my current insurer. No regrets.

It's a hyper competitive market. I would get a quote from one and take it to another. Got onto some of the compare insurance sites, pick the lowest and take it to another and ask.

    • Cheers, and yes that's what I've been doing, but all the companies I've contacted are not able to price match a competitor. They pretty much offer quotes on a take it or leave it basis

If they don't let you "choose you own repairer", then I would steer clear from them. Don't let price be the determining factor.

    • cheers mate, thanks for the advice - hopefully I'll be able to get both!

  • Coles do it too. Just need to call though…

Thanks buddy for the help, unfortunately coles stopped price matching as of this year

      • I didn't so much go around price matching but I shopped around and concluded that Coles car insurance had best price for my new car.
