Thanks for the help, but I just gave them a ring and they said they don't price match under any circumstances.
Funny story with Youi. I was shopping about to renew my house and contents insurance, as I was with RACQ and it jumped from $750 to $850 a year. Phoned Youi and they initially wanted $1200, but I wasn't interested because it was more expensive than my current policy. They said they could do it for $1000 a year, can we sign you up now? I was like…. that's still $150 more a year than what I'm paying now, why would I change to you?!? She even seemed taken aback that I wasn't willing to change to a more expensive insurer!
After the "let me speak to my manager" spiel they came back again with $800 or so, but I was that suspicious of how significant they dropped in price within a brief phone call that I decided to stick with my current insurer. No regrets.
It's a hyper competitive market. I would get a quote from one and take it to another. Got onto some of the compare insurance sites, pick the lowest and take it to another and ask.
Cheers, and yes that's what I've been doing, but all the companies I've contacted are not able to price match a competitor. They pretty much offer quotes on a take it or leave it basis
If they don't let you "choose you own repairer", then I would steer clear from them. Don't let price be the determining factor.

Thanks buddy for the help, unfortunately coles stopped price matching as of this year
I didn't so much go around price matching but I shopped around and concluded that Coles car insurance had best price for my new car.
