[WA] Mountain Designs Closing down Sale Claremont 40 to 80% off - MD Active Socks (Including Merino) 2 for $10

90

Looks like another Mountain Design store bites the dust. I actually wonder if they're on the way to shut down all the stores, this is the third one so far in WA.

MD Active socks (including merino) 2 for $10
MD socks 2 for $20
Sporks 3 for $5

Update: Looks like they're not shutting up shop completely, which is good news because I actually like their products.

  • @GreenOllie - If the performance of their moronic staff working at the Melbourne store are anything to go by, that might well be the case.

Staff I've encountered in Perth have been pretty decent. Better than the ones at Kathmandu.

      • I'll second this statement. Been to several Mountain Designs stores - in Canberra and Tassie, and every time had excellent experiences with the staff. A cut above most retail experiences nowadays and far better than most Kathmandu experiences I've had…

The Melbourne gang managed to lose my phone number twice (was waiting on an item they'd ordered in from another store) but tried to blame technical difficulties, then the "we called and left a message" excuse was used, then when I explained I had no messages or missed calls, they said they must have the wrong number…yeah no, I wrote the number down for them myself so that it couldn't be incorrectly recorded.

Then when I eventually made it in to the store to pick up the boots I'd ordered (after two failed attempts due to them closing earlier than the hours stated on their website), they wanted to charge me for them although I'd paid for them the day I'd placed the order. When I brought out the receipt to show them, they didn't want to accept it as proof I'd paid, as the bozo who'd processed the order and taken my money had charged them out at the (slightly too large) size that the store had in stock the day I'd gone in, and not the half size-smaller paid ordered from the other store. That this could have happened was beyond the realms of possibility in the minds of the first and then second staff members serving me, who instead presumed I was trying to steal a second pair of boots with the receipt from another pair, and tried to prevent me from leaving the store, "..but they're not paid for!" I eventually saw myself out despite their protests.

I've had some poor retail experiences in my time, but I don't think anything as memorable as these disorganised jokers treating me like a thief because of their clueless to approach to stock control and basic order-processing ignorance.

        • @dm01:

and knowing how things go, this Mountain Designs store will be the one left standing, whilst the others in Vic will be closed.

        • @dm01:

After a story like that, how do we even know you're the real dm01 ?

@shmahoo: That's an excellent point and one I'm not able to satisfactorily counter…

Some of us travel overseas to places other than Bali.

  • Recently had 40% off everything in store which I thought was pretty generous, and left then with very poor stock selection in their Northland (Preston, VIC) store. (staff were excellent though)
