Printer Fiasco - I Got Refund but I Want Replacement

Basically I bought a printer from Bing Lee. It was posted here on OzBargain. The Fuji Xerox M225 DW ($99). I returned the printer to Bing lee.

They had no stock to automatically replace so sent it to Fuji Xerox (apparently). I got a call 2 days later from Bing Lee and they told me Fuji were sending out another printer but cancelled cause it's an out of date model or they have no stock and just to refund me the cost for the printer.

I contacted Fuji through customer sales and I was told it is a current model and can be purchased from multiple reseller, with the biggest being Officeworks.

The reason I don't want a refund is because 2 months prior to the printer not working I bought a new toner ($70)

If I get a refund of ($99) then I'm stuck with a $70 toner.
Now I know the printer is still a model being sold but they refuse to give me a refurbished or new one.

Can I do something about this or claim compensation for the brand new and useless toner I have left?

Thanks in advanced

Update: Fuji had no reason to decline a replacement model. They will now send one directly to me via courier.

  • Why don't you claim through Fuji directly.
You just show receipt proof of purchase.

    • Contacted Fuji. They won't talk to me without an order number. I have to deal with binglee directly. I can't get an offer number unless purchased directly from.fuji

If you're scab then yes! :/

Wait so you bought the toner?

Toner was purchased 2 months before the printer broke.

It's a $70 toner. It cost nearly more than the printer.

      Scab…ozbargainer…same same ;)

This implies that you have your choice of replacement or refund.

Also from that, BL is the one to pursue.

    • I read that too. Wasn't sure if I was interpreting it right.

I did ask for a replacement but for some reason they didn't send one out and requested store credit.

Does there have to be a genuine reason why they would decline a replacement.

I should just keep pushing for replacement? As I know it's a current model?

I can see why they would baulk at replacement, it was sold at clearance price, and now they probably have to source a new one from their supplier. Keep pushing, quote the ACL and see what happens.

Pushed through Bing lee who pushed Fuji

Fuji had no reasonable reason to cancel the replacement.
They will now send one directly to me via courier….or they could be sending bikies

I'll find out in a few days

Any way if you can see which other models use that same toner and try to get bing lee to give you one of those instead at a reduced price?

    As per officeworks

    It's compatible for use with the following DocuPrint machines: P225 d, P265 dw, M225 dw, M225 z and M265 z.

You can get one of those machines.

It's not Bing Lee's fault you went out and bought new toner so I doubt you've got any chance of compensation

    • Bing lee are quite helpful. The dude on the phone asked if I bought the toner from binglee which I assume meant he was gonna help out some way.

My issue isn't binglee. They just do what Fuji tell them. My issue is fuji cancelled the order to send out a replacement but when i asked binglee they said they weren't provided with a reason why.

  • they have no stock and just to refund me the cost for the printer.

bl can't give you a replacement because they don't have any in stock. so a refund is more than a reasonable remedy.

    • I understand it from binglee perspective. I'm saying Fuji won't send out a replacement/refurbished model. It's not a end of life model either. I want binglee to push for the model. Spoke to the manager today and he said he'll try on Monday when he can contact them.

  • I know you would want a replacement. But would there be another printer you might like that will use the same toner?

    • Bing lee don't have any others which will use the same toner unfortunately.

  • Don think so, seems pretty bad that tehy dont really want to help

  • Sounds like you bought a runout model, they cant replace what they dont have, look for the same model on ebay.

    • Bing lee don't stock any Fuji docoprints. that's not the problem. I was wondering why Fuji won't offer a replacement. Binglee told me they usually only cancel replacements when it's a old model and they (Fuji) no longer stock it or have it. However I have an email from Fuji 2 days ago telling me it's a current model.

  • Update: Fuji had no reason to cancel replacement. They will now send one to my address via courier
