  • What's with the "PCTECH" coupon code? Is it only exclusive to this seller or is this gonna be a 20% sale again?

  • +3

Considering they already have their stock on sale the odds of them not price adjusting before the sale starts in 3 days is extremely low. But it would be great if there is a further 20% off existing prices.

  • -7

don't know if the price will be the same in 3 days before price jacking

    • Exactly. So just don't post all these deals now.

      • +6

Good to post this for the awareness. Ozb is a great archive for jacking incidents.

I bought the exact item from this seller for this price during the last 20% off sale. So can't see any reason they jack up the price this time.
Also as you said "don't know if the price will be the same in 3 days before price jack", so it is not a valid reason for negging, as the neg is purely based on your assumption. if you want to warn people, probably you should neg the main ebay deal, not each individual one.

        • So can't see any reason they jack up the price this time.

          Er … OK.

    • Shopping express sells Samsung EVO 850 250gb SATA III for $122, but on ebay shopping express, sells for $149. Is it usually ebay higher price or they have already jack up the price to be ready for the 20% deal. PC byte sells for $148 currently, and also offers free shipping, may get it from there if the price stays the same on Tuesday next week.

    • +6

Neg is invalid, you should be able to buy it now and wait until Tuesday to pay.

  • anyone comment on the quality of these?

    • +4

Their memory cards are rubbish from personal experience, can't comment on SSD but won't risk storing worthy data on Transcend products.

      • yeah totally agreed they really are a sub standard provider

  • If I only want to get a 250gb ssd, is Samsung EVO 850 250gb SATA III, the best?

    • +2

i'd get the samsung one over the transcend anyday

      • I have updated the link, price and description with this product as well:)

  • Are these two the same product? $140 and the other one $149 both from shopping express ebay

    $140

    $149
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-850-EVO-250GB-2-5-SATA-I…

    • one is 120 GB n other is 250 gb

      • If you click on 250 still $140, 120gb sold out.

        • +1

yeah.. thanks..but store name is "shopping-express-clearance" i am not sure if they are participating in 20% off.
If they are then best price would be $112 ( $140-$28 = $112) which will be better from PC byte..keep an eye :)

          @Being Askhole:

great, thanks for clarifying, didn't see the clearance part, will keep an eye on it. Will $112 the cheapest ever? all the previous deal from shopping express (with 45+ votes) is $109 but has to pay 8.95 postage.

        • @htc: I hope so.. I got another similar listing for $149 at shopping-express-clearance can't see any difference(https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-850-EVO-250GB-2-5-SATA-I…) .. looks like same product but different price at same store. lol..

        • @htc: my mobo I bought off s.e. clearance died with a year warranty to go and they gave me such a run around i ended up just buying a new one, would not recommend…

        • @Slippery Fish:
so there is a difference between the s e clearance items and just shopping express items?

        • @htc: idk honestly, but warranty was a joke with tons of pics and emails and messages ect ect ect… In the end it just wasn't worth the effort arguing that it's in warranty and I won't be paying for a warranty repair. New board was $75, repair was 50 and I didnt have to deal with them anymore :/

  • How does the Transcend 480GB compare to the Samsung 850 or Crucial MX300?

    • not as good as samsung…

    • Samsung is better in terms of write performance. Also reliability because of the EVO architecture. Many others are cheaper, but when they have more space reserved for re-writing data when the errors surface (hence the odd sizings, 480G instead of 512G, 250GB instead of 256GB, 120G instead of 128GB, etc).

just consider if you want space, or reliability for your money.

      • Reliability is important to me so stick with Samsung? The Samsung 850 EVO 500GB is $182 with the 20% off.

        • +1

Yes. But don't forget to consider/factor in warranty period and how easy or hard it is to access it.

Will this work with this new build I bought? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-8930-Tower-Desktop-8th-…

  • Can someone help me? Are these external hard drive for copying and moving your files around? I want a super high speed external hard to move about 500 GB data inter-state.

    Thanks

    • +2

Nope, these SSDs are not external and are plugged into the insides of a computer or a laptop. Because these aren't your standard mechanical drives, these SSDs are typically used to store your operating system or games to make use of their extremely fast load speeds in comparison to your mechanical drives.

Best to look for products that are specifically labelled 'Portable harddrives' if you need to move data around in a portable package.

  • Both SSD are TLC :(

  • Any deals on hard drive enclosure? Missed the gearbest and zapal $6 deal. Hopefully they will come back soon.

  • Good luck with:

    • Last one / 99 sold
  • PCTECH not working for me. Anyone else?

    • Starts at 10am

  • These guys have price jacked the m.2 SSD 500GB Evo 850 Samsung drive. Not happy jan!

  • Yesterday I checked the 1tb Samgung Evo 850 at all the stores and they are $400 today they jacked up the prices to $450

    • $363 is still cheaper than anywhere else I have seen for an EVO 850 1Tb.

I was intending to buy if it was $409 (yesterdays price) coming down to $327, but now I am going to wait for the Crucial MX500 1tb which should be the same as the current MX300 price of $340 ish (umart).

  • Just got my transcend 480gb. Omg its so light. Hope the quality is up there. Made in Taiwan too which one rarely see these days.
