Received Pre-Opened Product from David Jones

It is sad that when I paid for a new product (Philips shaver MG7770/15), and it isn't. The box looked perfectly fine upon collection with a clear seal sticker. When I reached home, the item was clearly repackaged. The plastic bag containing the product was torn where it had been taped and had lots of creases! The shaver itself had finger prints and little dirt on it. One accessory was even scratched and had a piece of hair on it! Clearly a violation of their own policy!

DJ manager called me back saying there is no way anyone could have opened the product and neither could it have passed Philips QC.

Next update from her on Monday when she gets back from Philips.

So… Post this on Monday after you've heard back? Or did you just wanna get that rant off your chest?

Maybe they just want to get the hairs of their chest.

Just ask for a refund. Drop a little Fair trading into the convo.

    Fair trading

Nsw fair trading may give advice, but is about it. They've no real powers to force dj to do something that isn't required of them.

    Op, what do you want?

    • Well atm just a refund. FYI they did cancel one online order earlier On Friday. And this pre-op was ordered again to collect from another store.
Guess this shaver is not meant to be.

    • Fair trading has liaised with fraudulent companies to help me get my money back on several occasions. It may take time, but they do thier job. I am currently liaising with them to hold an online game accountable for multiple pricing which is illegal in Australia.

That and if anyone had a similar experience. Returning items at times is so much harder at a retailer compared to Amazon.

So much harder? How? At least the retailer is open on a Sunday, Aus Post isn't…

  • Sounds like clear refund material to me!

Yeah, I think wait until you’ve heard back from the manager but if it were me I’d just take it back to store right prompt because a; that’s gross and b; it’s a sanitation and health issue.

Was there any other way to open the box or would it have been possible to re stick the seal thing?

Depends if that round transparent sticker is reusable.

  • Went to my closest store and got a refund and ordered one from Amazon almost $70 cheaper.
Manager called back claiming it cannot have happened at Philips quality control or David Jones's end! Nevertheless she only offered to exchange it out of goodwil, which I declined.
