  • Half the price of the LG G6 which is on sale at the moment, which I can also afford. Which to choose?

G6, better screen and you spend a lot of time looking at screen when using a phone.

i’m usually not as fussed about cpu or ram ….. most current phones seem to have good cpu and ram is more for marketing, though more rom means you don’t need to manage space.

      • Yeah I agree. $250 price difference over 2+ years is worth spending the extra for I think

    • or just hunt down an Axon 7 from OW at $299, very good phone for the price. Specs is still comparable to 2017 flagships!

  • Noticed recently the battery drains pretty fast on the moto G5+,
with fairly average usage like checking ozbargain and no games.

The fast charger really cooks it .

    32GB 4GB RAM model/version here for $299 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Motorola-Moto-G5S-Plus-XT180…

Many people prefer AU stock to grey imports

    • got this spec last year for $270

      • Happy with it? Can get it for $284 with PICK5. Am tempted as an upgrade to my OnePlus One.
Does it really have 4GB and NFC? That doesn't seem to match the specs for XT1805.

        • yes, my phone really gets 4gb ram (about 3.75gb shown on a third party software), NFC, yes, i have tried the commbank card - no problem.

Downside is the screen, not as good as my previous samsung oled screen, the screen is very faded in color.

Apart from that, it is quick speed phone with minimum lag feeling.

And one more issue, camera sometimes in error mode, i think it would be a software issue.

Also the G5S has Dual SIM OR MicroSD and not Dual SIM AND Micro SD. So for some the G5 Plus is the model to get.

I have the G4 plus with Dual SIM setup with AU Telstra SIM in Roaming with no data and Globe Philippines SIM with data, living and working in Manila for an AU company and the mix is effortless to manage for the incoming and outgoing calls and messages accordingly.

I hope Motorola (Lenovo) revert back to Dual SIM AND MicroSD otherwise I will need to shift brands.

      • gotta say my wife is pretty pleased with her G5s plus - looks like a much more expensive phone, but we don't have a stanrd g5 plus to compare against.

        • The G5S plus is what I was going to get last year , but LG V20 was down to $366 on ebay sale at the time so went with that,

The G5S Plus is a nicer phone than the G5 Plus, if you are willing to pay the extra.

The LG G6, usb C, higher res screen (QHD), and 82x series processor, the moto has std 1080p and 625 processor.

just depends if you want to pay $200 more for the G6, $100 per year extra isn't much over the life of a phone, min 2 years.

The Axon7 at $299 would be ideal if you can find stock, bought one for my son so he can retire his Xiaomi note4 (needs band 28 for rural holiday coverage).

I don't think this has a notification led.

Just bought one. Came in at $247.99.

    • Yeah just noticed. It seems as though they don't understand the concept of price jacking lol

      • Actually none of the items I've been watching were price jacked. Although I've taken note of the offending sellers from other comments, added them to my mental naughty list.

    Thanks, I bought one too.

  • Great phone, brought one a month ago with the deal for $260. You will not get a better phone with NFC for this price. It is fast and responsive and the battery life is great. The fold colour looks nicer than the grey.
Camera takes very good photos and love the slow motion video feature. Motion controls are great - You can do things like 2 twists to turn the camera on and 2 karate chops to turn the torch on/off.
