35c per AA battery is reasonable value. BigW sells alkaline batteries every day for 45c each. The 9v cells look like poor value at $3.50 each. Very easy to find Toshiba and Chevron for a similar price in a wide variety of stores (BigW for Chevron, KMart for Toshiba).
