Experiences with Cathay Pacific & Over- Sized Luggage

I'm flying out to Japan tomorrow with Cathay Pacific and looking to hear about others experiences taking over sized luggage. Cathay Pacific have a linear dimension limit of 203 cm.

I let them know approx. 2 months ago i'd be bringing snowboarding gear with total dimensions slightly over 203 cm, however my booking changed today and I had to put a new request in for my bag.

Has anyone had any issues bringing snow gear on their flights with/or without requesting over sized luggage? Please help put my mind at ease ;)

    Yeah that's the first thing I did, the application is pending.

    I asked to see if there's much of a difference between what they say on the phone vs what they say at the airport.

  You should be able to rock up (early) and pop it into oversized luggage after checkin. It is counted towards your luggage.

  Extra weight is difficult obtain sometimes so either buy a jacket there or wear it on the plane and cram it into overhead.

    Cheers for the advice. I think I'll be checking in early even if Cathay get back to me and approve my request, just to make sure.

    I've got plenty of spare weight but bringing a jacket in the cabin is a good call!
