Expected Percentage Discount at Salera's, Angus and Coote for Watches

Hi All - So i am looking at a couple of watches mainly Tissot and went to these shops. Considering I will be spending north of $1000 on watches, i was hoping to get some discount on RRP.
They offered me 10-12% saying when you are ready to purchase, we will see what we can do.

So this to all who might have had any such experience in the past, how much do think think they will negotiate?
is 20-25% too much to expect?

Standard discount on Tissot is 20% off RRP. Any shop which sells Tissot will give you that discount if you push for it. In my experience I haven't been able to get anyone to give more than 20% discount on Tissot.

    • ok. yeah 20% would be good.. will try..cheers

  • Which models? Links?

  • Your location says Melbourne.

If you're around the city, try JR Duty Free on Swanston St. As soon as you start negotiating, they'll give you the best discounted price they can.

Each brand has it's own margin/percentage that they can knock off straightaway. Longines and Rado were about 23% off the listed price. The discount is off either the Duty Free Price or, if you're not travelling, the Duty Free Price plus 10%.

    • yes melb.. wil;l try JR thanks

Let's suppose they offer 25% discount:-

    https://www.anguscoote.com.au/watches/ladies/tissot-bella-or…
    $625.00
    https://www.anguscoote.com.au/watches/mens/tissot-tradition-…
    $475.00
    Total $1,095.00 - 25% = $821.25

    US$225.00 + US$16.20 Shipping = US$241.20
    https://www.amazon.com/Tissot-T0636101106700-Silver-Tone-Sta…
    US$223.35 + US$9.92 Shipping = US$233.27
    Total US$474.47 = ~AU$596.29 … a saving of AU$224.96

        good

it makes me happy that people dont get ripped off and dont patronise aus business

dont get me wrong, there's some ok deals to be had if they're having a sale and whatnot but its always caveat emptor
