Micro SD card

Hello,

I have an SD card which was been used in my dash cam.
Recently the dashcam stopped recognising the sd card.

I put it in the PC and formatted the card.
Now it says 0gb free of 32gb.. But there's nothing on the card.

So the PC recognises there's a 32gb card inserted.

Any ideas?

    edit:

assuming that you just want to restore the card to a usable condition and don't care about the footage on it, you should just reformat the card.

Download the formatter tool from SDcard.org and reformat it as FAT filesystem

    https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

If you've been using the card in your dashcam and it was not a 'high endurance SD card', its possible it might have exhausted it's read/write cycles and can no longer be used.

    • Thanks scrimshaw.. Giving it a go now.
Formatting did nothing the first 50 times Ive tried

      • 50 times?

        • Yeah.. Kept trying hoping it would work lol

  • Happens to me as well, you can use formatting softwares like:
    https://www.partition-tool.com/

or you can use disk part (More risky if you don't know what you are doing)

hold the windows start button and R
    then type diskpart and enter
    allow for admin
for the first command type list disk
NOTE: take note of the disk ID of your SD card (make sure it is your SD card and not you windows drive)
then type sel disk (enter the id number)
    now type clean

you can now set up the sd card again.

if that doesn't work try it on a different PC or format it using the Dash cam if it had a touchscreen.

  • Thanks.. If scrimshaws tip doesn't work, I'll give that a go

  • Now either of you know how to get my xiaomi xiaofang camera to work in Australia? Lol
Already set to mainland China.. The whole hack thing is doing my head in
