Flybuys / Coles Privacy Issue with No Response or Resolution

So back in the days when i was with my ex-misses we had a Flybuys account (she was an additional card holder) and her Coles Mastercard (soley in her name) was linked to the account as well as my Velocity Card (in my name)

After we split her name and additional card was left on the account until she started using the points, so I called Flybuys to remove her from the account. Low and behold the points were still been deducted (and yes also being credited for her purchases). After some back and forth with Flybuys it was discovered that ONLY her name was removed not the actual additional card s had that removed as well. Now, one would assume that the "coles Mastercard" under her name would also be removed. NOPE, as the Flybuys account was still linked to the Mastercard she was able to again deduct (points also credited). I got all my points back from Flybuys and asked them to resolve the issue.

Flybuys advised only way for this to be resolved is if she (the ex) removed it by calling (i dont have contact with her) or I have another account created and the points moved over, OK so took the latter and low and behold the Master card was still linked. I tried calling "Coles Mastercard" and obviously didn't get to far due to privacy.

Escalated the issue with flybuys as to which they advised they would escalate the issue and have management call me to advise what next would be done (this was months ago), I am still waiting for a call back and I call weekly to receive and update, I only receive a response of "we are looking into it". The last call to them I lodged a formal complaint re: privacy issues (supervisor couldn't even give me a reference number for the complaint).

Flybuys don't have f**n clue what is going on and aren't taking this issue serious at all, it's a breach of privacy and seeing though Flybuys is owned by Coles it amazes me that they cant come up with some resolution (its only been 3+ months), not even a call back once from any representative or manager after being promised several times about the matter being escalated.

Am I just stuck here or is there any other avenues I should take, I have tried to lodge a privacy complaint through the relevant Government agency but I need to lodge a complaint through Flybuys (which I have with no reply from them) to proceed. It seems I have found a flaw in their system to which they don't have an answer for so the easiest path for them would be to ignore it and hope it would go away?

Thoughts??

Scrap everything and start again with a new card.

Close the Mastercard and move your business elsewhere.

    • OP can't close the Mastercard

her Coles Mastercard (soley in her name)

More importantly, does the ex missus have the right to sue for the points that she added to the account with her own Mastercard purchases? Sounds like you might have diddled her out of points that were rightfully hers and she is just using them.

You do seem just a tad obsessed here; I'm getting the feeling this wasn't an amicable split.

I agree with others; use up the points, close out the account and then restart from scratch. I'm sure you have other things you need to direct your efforts to.

use the points, close the account, start a new account.

    Privacy Issue
    it's a breach of privacy

how is this a privacy issue?

    • I assume he can see the transactions that are creating flybuys points so will know where and on what date she shops at particular places. Personally I would not want an ex having that much detail about my life. Imagine if You were a victim of domestic violence and your ex had these details…

      • tbh OP seems a little petty, this seems to be about not letting her use flybuys points, than protecting himself from the danger of domestic violence.

Change the password to the account and turn off automatic points redemption. Then she can't use the points but they are still coming in from her purchases.

  • Use up all the points at once yourself so she can't.
Unlink your Velocity Card from the Flybuys.

Start fresh with a new Flybuys number.

  • Yup, convert all the points to a Coles/jb/whatever gift card and start fresh!

  • How many points?
