Strata Annual General Meeting Location

Hi OzBargainers,

I’ve been combing the internet and can’t find an answer to this.

I would like to ask whether the owners corporation can choose where to hold the annual general meeting, for example at the location of the apartment complex. Due to the strata manager saying it’s held in their office, which is like 1 hour away. Not convenient.

  • Um….

  • Yes

  • the owners corporation determines where the meeting is held not the strata organisation. You can hold it in the foyer of the building if you want.

Owners corp determines the location, but bear in mind that the strata manager may charge you for time and/or travel costs to come to your preferred location.

  • OP perhaps amend title to Annual.

And "Helen in there" -> "held in their". At least OP used "it's" correctly.

  • We've had them in the common area car pk previoulsy

  • I have our meetings just at the entrance of the units, basically on the sidewalk. If it's raining we just relocate to the covered bus stop LOL.

  • its up to the owners corporation to decide between themselves. I had my first meeting in my building in the strata complex carpark because historically it was there but the second time round, I opted to have it in my unit. Someone just has to volunteer and others agree. The only other thing to consider to maybe have some signage in common areas to let any late comers to know it is in "no. XX unit".

For my other strata complex in the past we had it in their STRATA office but it wasn't too far away from home. Not too difficult if you have a smallish complex where only half a dozen max. owners attend. :)
