Dell XPS 15 9560 Laptop

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy the Dell XPS 15 9560 Laptop.
I see the Dell site is offering $500 cash off. Deal ends 25 Jan 2018. Also, wondering if they do student deals.

Is this a good deal or should I wait for another deal to pop up?
Not exactly in a rush but don't want to wait around too long.

Also, if anyone has this laptop, please let me know your thoughts on it.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank You.

  • Dont forget Cashrewards! Should be ~3.5% back as well.

New model comes out on the 26th of January.

    • The newest processors are at 8th gen. This is 7th gen

      • Correct. The XPS 15 with 7th Gen are the old ones, and new 8th Gen ones coming sooooon.

    • Source?

  • I've had the 9560 for just over a year now as my daily workhorse. Can't speak highly enough of it. The 4k screen is gorgeous, the combination of an actual quad core i7 and NVMe means it's blazingly quick. Basically, everything I need it to do happens without a hitch.

Only issue for me is that it's a bit large for a 15inch both in overall surface area and thickness if you compared it to say a 15inch Macbook Pro.

    • Do you turn it off everyday or keep it on sleep/hibernate? I've only heard good things about this laptop!

  • There is a 15% off available for students but doesn't stack so no further discounts.
As cimrak said, cashrewards will get you an extra 3.5% back.

Better off waiting for ebay 20% sale and grab the XPS 15 4K version. It's only $400 more when on sale but you'll get: 1% cash back (calculated on pre-sale price), double ram, double ssd, quadruple resolution, touch screen, and nearly double battery capacity.

And Dell don't jack up prices for eBay sale.

Edit: it's actually on sale right now, code "PRAWNS", comes to $2,399.20 delivered (and ~$30 cash back)

    • Thanks! That looks like an awesome deal.

    • Item coming from Malaysia. Can I still claim the TRS?

    • Sorry, another question. Is this essentially the same model as the 9560 with better specs?

      • +1

Yes you can claim TRS as you get a tax invoice, yes it is same laptop with better specs, and yes it is much better value for money than the one you were looking at :)

        • Legend! Thank you :)

It is the 9560, they offer the 9560 in a few different configurations.

Agree with tio, get the 4k version. No issues with the battery life for me (lasts 6-10 hours at uni every day, depending what I'm using it for). The slim bezels look so good, and I was unsure about the touchscreen at first - but surprisingly use it pretty often.

Out of the box had a few issues with bsod (driver related) but once I had upgraded/downgraded some things, it's been fine so since.

  • Is it possible to get the 97Whr battery instead of the 57Whr with the model linked above? I seem to be getting an "Option not available at this time" message when I select the option.

Also anyone know the battery life of the xps15 with 1080p screen comparing the both batteries?

    • for home users, I don't think you can customise the laptop configuration. But for a corporate account, Dell can be very flexible.

A good thing with the 57Whr battery is that it leaves some space to add a 2nd SSD should you wish.

  • Got an XPS 9560 4K recently and it's been something of a lemon. Looking to return it and get something else. Any suggestions for a 15 inch touchscreen (preferably 2 in 1) available in Australia for around the same price that's not grey stock?

    • that's a bummer. Dell does slip lemons out sometimes. What's wrong with yours?

  • Bought a Dell XPS 15 today, these specs:
    15.6" 4K UltraHD touchscreen
    i7-8750H
    16GB RAM
    512GB M.2 2280 PCIe Solid State Drive
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5

for $2,421.69 using FRENZY15 coupon and other coupon.
and with 7% cashback, price is really only $2,252.17

    • I can't replicate this.

Frenzy code brings it to $2464.15. 7% cash back is on the excl GST portion of the spend, so should only yield $156.81, for a net cost of $2307.34.

Cheaper via ebay with 1% cashback (20% brings down to $2319.20, the 1% on ebay is on the GST included spend, so is $23.19) for a net cost of $2296.01

    • i will wait new version with intel gen 9 chipset
