Help Me Avoid to Get Ripped off by My 457 Health Care

Hello everyone,

I've been in the country for almost a year and covered by an international insurance contracted overseas.
I got sponsored by my company and we are about to lodge in my 457 visa application within the next couple of days. My company's migration agent informed me I needed to sign up for a 457 Health Care insurance that meets requirements for 457 visa holders.

It's a long shot, I don't know if I'll find many 457 holders around here but here I go.

I found a couple of 457 Health Cover comparaisons online but I'm not sure if they're really legit.

If you have any information, insights that could help me in respect of Health Care in Australia in general like maybe Insurance companies to avoid.

Thank you in advance :)

Iman Australia Health Care looks really descent compared to the others for and the price looks ok as well.
What do you all think ?

Never heard of them so I'd beware. Go with the big companies e.g. hif/medibank/bupa etc

      • I had IMAN for my first year in Oz, before it switched to NIB. Never really used or claimed anything though.

      • Iman is more commonly known as NIB, which is one of the "big companies".

      They are NIB.Should be okay.

Don't just go with what is cheap, look at what you actually need too and how easy it is to make a claim. I would stick with someone who is easily reachable.

Iman is fine, as they are more commonly known as NIB (and according to here are rebranding themselves as NIB). Also, the claim process is a lot simpler now as you can now do your claims via the NIB app or website.
Just be sure to check out all available option by the various providers.

    • Thanks for the insights regarding the claim process. It's kinda cool to do your claims through an app !

I checked out all the providers listed in this finder list

Turned out they're all more expensive or offer less coverage for the same price. For example for the same price the others 100% of MBS hospital cover whereas NIB offers 100% of cost

  • Canstar placed IMAN/NIB as outstanding value on their 457 Health Care comparatif and won Canstar provider award.

I think I'll go with them from the beginning I was under the impression they were offering the best value for the lower price price in the market

  • my wife and I were on 457 3 years (mid 2013-mid 2016), always were with Medibank, it wasn't definitely the cheapest one, but when I compared inclusions one by one, it was the best value and nobody could beat it, the cost was rising every year on the 1st April, and in 2016 we were paying $530 for extra top 85 with hospital cover, as at that time without medicare it was better to pay more for us, but making sure we are covered in most cases…
