Uluru Accommodation Recommendation needed

Hi all,

I'm thinking of going to Uluru in October.

There seems to be a few places to stay, but after reading reviews on trip advisor and the like, I'm not sure which is the best place. Has anyone been and happy with where they stayed?

It'll be my partner and I going for 3 nights from Sydney.

Thanks in advance

I was tossing up between Desert Garden and Sails in the Desert, and decided on Sails in the Desert. It was a cost difference of about $50 extra/night but believe me, it was the best decision ever! Sails is a much nicer resort and not only do you benefit from the nicer room but they have a better breakfast buffet (included in most rates), better dining and drinking options in general, nicer pool and closer to the town centre area where you can buy supplies, souvenirs etc.

Uluru really is a once in a lifetime kind of opportunity and if your budget allows I would most certainly recommend you make the most of the opportunity and stay at Sails.

Thanks, I was looking at Desert garden and emu walk apartments. I'll check out sails, as you said it's a once in lifetime experience… And it's my birthday (50) treat..

      • Wrote a fairly detailed review of the hotel on TripAdvisor back in late May. Happy to message you the link if you like!

        • Hi, that would be great thanks

+1 to Sails in the Desert. Consider packing some good booze with you.

  • I mean I was cheap and stayed in the dorm. It was smaller than most dorms but it was perfect for what I needed. There was also a really nice lookout nearby and the bar there was quite fun.

  • they're all in the same area so I'd say there's not much too much difference having stayed there previously
most of the time I wasn't using any of the facilities (apart from the aircon in the room if that counts haha)

if you can splurge it up, there's longitude 131… though i believe that would be against the spirit of ozb

  • Number one choose Sails in the Desert, should go at September or early October.

  • Sails is the best hotel but another option I also recommend is Desert Gardens, Rock view room. Other end to Sails though. Don't do Outback Pioneer, it's the lead in and is on the other side of the resort. To go to the town you need to catch the free shuttle. It also has some dorm rooms so more of a backpacker style with pub style restaurant.
