Purchasing a MacBook Air from DWI

Hi guys,

I'm from Sydney, Australia and want to purchase a cheap quality MacBook Air. I have recently seen DWI on eBay where they sell the MacBook Air for $1112 as well as just over $1000 on their website.

I would like to know if this is a legitimate store that won't rip me off. I want to know if anyone has had good or bad experiences with the store and help me make a decision. The store overall has a good rating of 4 star average. I'll insert the link to both the eBay and online store. I know that they are based in Hong Kong so I also want to know if I will get any form of security if my laptop breaks. I know that in the eBay description that they will provide suitable adaptors for whatever country you are based in.

Also could you direct me and suggest other laptop brands that are good if not better than the MacBook because sometimes I feel that it's the apple name that I'm buying as opposed to the actual quality.
I would prefer a laptop that is around $500 if it isn't a MacBook but it has to be of good quality.

Hope you guys can help. Thanks. So yeah check out the links and let me know if it is legit or a scam.

  • Yes the website is legit and the site also allows you to pay with Paypal. I recently ordered a surface book and the box arrived undamaged and was well protected for shipping. But keep in mind that the charging adapter will be different. As for warranty you will just need to send it back. Also note, they surge charges are pretty high, had to pay an additional $30, and also paid for Express and insured shipping.

    • Thanks for your response. So how much did it end up costing? Did u pay through their website or eBay?

      • Paid through their website. Total price is $1,341.16 using coupons

  • I bough one from Shopmonk $999 and it arrived with no issues.
Mine was Singaporean stock, came with an extra AU adapter. Grey imports have 1 year international AU from Apple.
It seems from past threads that quite a few people had problems with Shopmonk delaying/not shipping orders but luckily it didn’t happen to me, knocks wood.
I also bought stuff from DWI before, legit site as well and very fast shipping (DHL when I bought headphones from them) but be mindful of their surcharges.

    • Grey imports have 1 year international AU from Apple.

And what if you buy locally?

What do you mean by surcharges when you referred to DWI?

      • Apple’s warranty is 2 years for local stock, but I think the warranty period might be longer under ACL (for local stocks only).
From memory, there was a Paypal surcharge from DWI, can’t remember if there was a credit card surcharge.

        • Thanks. These are the eBay prices for iPad I am after:

          DWI: $567
          QD_AU: $581
          Myer: $599

Not sure which one to choose. QD_AU ships locally but it is still imported stock I reckon.

        • @virhlpool:
Personally I’d definitely go for Myer.
$32 premium for the peace of mind of local stock + adapter, longer warranty and easy return is very well worth it.
Note I didn’t say faster postage as I reckon stuff from DWI (3 days DHL) would probably arrive faster than from Myer.
          Good luck with your purchase.

  • Kogan sell Macbook Airs https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/apple-13-macbook-air-128gb-18gh…

Youre not just paying for a brand with Mac, you also get MacOS which isnt too bad.
