Kia Cerato / Hyundai Elantra - Much Room to haggle on new or demo?

I'm currently looking at either a Kia Cerato or Hyundai Elantra.
(Would love anyone's personal opinions on either of these cars)

But in terms of haggling price down, is there much room to move on say a Kia Cerato, which already quoted as a driveaway price and with free auto, can I still ask for a discount ?

And also, I looked also into buying a Demo Kia Cerator, I noticed on Car sales but the price for the demo was exactly the same as the new car price. Surely they would give a bigger discount on a demo which already had km's on it ?

    Both very decent cars

There is ALWAYS the ability to get a better price. Please tell us the price do you have in mind for the exact model/spec/colour you are after? and what is the DA price?

The biggest thing you have in your favour, is your desire to buy a car. Guess what, the stealership wants your money. YOU decide how much they get. Answer the above and remember, the stock they have now, is costing them money sitting on their yard. It's stock that was built in 2017 and it's already a year old. Very soon, they will have stock that's built in 2018 and they will be DESPERATE to move these old cars.

Plus you’re approaching the end of the month so you just need to name your price (nothing unreasonable) and hopefully find a young, hungry sales rep struggling to hit their target for the month. As they get closer they’re more likely to get desperate. A demo ABSOLUTELY should be reduced in price otherwise what’s the point? They may simply not want to sell it yet.

  • Another ‘how much discount on a car’ thread?

    Bought a new Kia rio

    Manufacturer Special: 17500
    Paid: 16640

    (Both DA)

Just send an email around all the places, didnt even walk in the door.

    • That’s what I like to hear !! I might even do that to save me driving around - tell them exactly what I want.

      • Just a quick heads up. YMMV.

Basically i found that internet sales and floor sales were treated differently. I emailed 2 local dealers, told them exactly what i wanted, and how i was going to pay, and that I wanted to get this sorted asap. No test drives etc.

        2 hrs later i'd signed a contract.

If you need to test drive, need convincing, then i wouldnt do this method.

Bought a brand new Elantra Auto just after Christmas for $20K driveaway (no hail damage). Got $4500 for my 2011 Ford so very happy with it. Much better car than the Cerato even though its almost the same. Of course the dealer prefer you to take out a loan but I had enough to pay outright.

    • Did you drive both and think the Hyundai felt better ?

      • Yep, also the interior is better on the Hyundai.

  • Both good cars, personally I like Hyundai’s. I was talking to a person who works at a Hyundai dealership and he was saying current models (2018) basically sell for cost price or they may make $1000 in kickbacks from Hyundai but older/demo models provide huge kickbacks as profits - in some instances half the price of the car. So I would imagine you would have some good scope for negotiation.

I love it how they advertise “free auto”.

Is manual even a thing these days?

    • $500 cheaper, apparently
