eBay 0 Feedback Buyers, Should I Be Concerned?

I'm currently selling two items around the $200-$300 mark on eBay.

Both of my items have the highest bidders with 0 feedback score. I realise everyone has to start out somewhere but what tips could you give me to avoid any hassles or potential scamming from these buyers if they do win.

Should I just cancel their bids and not risk it? Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

You need to adjust your settings to hide your auctions from 0 feedback users.

    • hide your auctions from 0 feedback users.

It isn't possible to hide listings in this manner.

  • PayPal only with immediate payment to avoid unpaid item hassle, trackable shipment if possible with signature, and yes change your buyer requirement to avoid 0 feedback, generally if shipped in Au is fine as long as not Russia or Nigeria.

    • and yes change your buyer requirement to avoid 0 feedback,

Blocking a member with 0 fb isn't possible.

It's counterproductive when trying to sell an item and drives buyers away from eBay.

      • Hi yes sorry meant for negative feedback. Thanks.

        • What the seller can do is to restrict it to 0 fb with phone verification. It's just an extra step to weed out the lazy scammers. It doesn't do must to stop the seasoned ones.

    • I thought immediate payment only works if it’s a buy it now. Not a bid

      • Hi yes, sorry missed the fact you're selling it on auction.

  • Zero stars = I wont pay for the item if i win

Normally if the bidder has no feedback, they normally just try and mess up your bid by adding more and more until the real bidders go away and in the end they don't pay.

    • Why do they do this? Is this entertainment to some people?

      • I wish ebay could just ban the IP of those account. Could've made $575 on a hard item to sell on ebay but this one guy just out bid everyone and didn't pay

        • Yeah I'm sure they ban the account but then the user just signs up again and keeps doing it. It is very strange behaviour. I just don't get their angle.

It would also be good, in these instances, if you could then offer the item back to the next highest bidder and allow them to negotiate. So while bidder 2 may have been $570 for that item, they could come back and offer $560 and you'd both win.

        • Can't you use the second chance offer feature to make an offer to the next highest bidder?

        • @zachwright95:

The seller is legally required to sell the item to the highest bidder. They can't just accept an offer from the second highest bidder.

        • @whooah1979: And if said zero feedback buyer doesn't pay. That's when you can use that feature.

  • Should I just cancel their bids and not risk it? Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

You should issue an invoice to the buyer so that they can pay. Ship the item after they've paid as per Ebay's suggestion on how to ship an item.
