Looking for a set top box to use with a projector. Foxtel Now or Telstra Tv?

Hey guys, I am looking for a set top box that I can use with a projector.

The primary goal is to be able to watch free to air tv, but I am thinking I may as well get something more versatile and look at something like a Foxtel Now or Telstra Tv2.

Ideally something with a Bluetooth/wifi remote or the ability to control via an app so that I can hide the box in the ceiling and not have to worry about pointing an IR device at it.

I already have a Chromecast connected to it for streaming Netflix.

Open to all suggestions

    Just to clarify - you want a set top box for FTA (presumably true FTA with a digital tuner vs. the various apps), as well as something which supports streaming services?

      Yes that's right, the projector doesn't have a built in tuner so that is the priority. I'm leaning towards the Foxtel Now and Telstra 2 because they both have tuners.

    I own a Telstra TV2. You can use a phone app to control the device (remote on your phone screen) but its SO slow to launch and bring up the remote.

    The TV tuner works nicely. We use it for Stan streaming which runs perfectly, and we sideloaded the Plex Classic app which works okay, struggles with some newer codecs, uses the boring ass Roku media player interface (so does SBS on demand - it all works, it just looks ugly)

    The Foxtel Now box is very Foxtel orientated so if you don’t have Foxtel, you are better off with something else. It has a Bluetooth remote so I don’t think you need line of sight.

    I’d recommend a fetch tv, mighty if you want a pvr, mini if you don’t. It has the built in tuner but the paid channels are much less obtrusive and the channel packs are very cheap. It also does all the catchup and built in Netflix.

    Wouldn't it get too hot in the ceiling? In general what does everyone think about putting electronics in the roof space considering it can get to 70+ degrees.

      Plus you've gotta get Audio from the device back to your Amplifier.
      All my gear is at my amplifier and it does the switching to determine which source goes to the Projector.
