I've used this a fair bit. My favourite of all the popular meditation apps. The voice of the presenter is the most appealing to me of all the apps I tried and the content is decent.

I let my monthly subscription lapse late last year because it was too pricey month to month but I'm happy to pay this much for a whole year.

      • What sort of meditation do you use for sleep, it hard to leave everything behind at work.

        • I find that if I make the time to meditate during the day then the sleep part just happens. If not, I prefer to listen to ASMR videos for sleep

        • @Mentok:

does meditation (i know this sounds silly) require cross legged - aka the traditional style? I am wondering if meditation for a beginner would help with pain management and mind over matter for potential upcoming knee surgery. pretty freaked on potential pain threshold (acl surgery) so am wondering what i can do on the mental side of things.

        • @SaberX:

There is no need to sit cross legged (particularly with upcoming knee surgery!) You can sit on a chair with feet on the floor.

There are 30 sessions on pain management in Headspace. Alternatively/in addition you could consider trying out mindfulness.

        • @SaberX:

Half the time I do it standing on the train so no, you'll be sweet.

        • Look up binaural deep sleep or mediation music or sounds.. some are really great on YouTube.

Alternatively look up silky - remember that one time

Not sure that it will make you happy. But I think it helps with anxiety, depression and helps you focus more on life.

I think headspace is a great introduction to meditation so would recommend it at this price.

There also other free apps and MP3s available. I think the difference is comparable to buying some dumbbells and working out at home vs going to a gym.

      • does headspace itself teach you how to meditate if your a beginner/never done before sorta person?

        • Yes. It has a 3 part basics 10 sessions each. The first 10 are free to try
