Bike Recommendations Please

Looking for recommendations on a mountain bike please guys. Only want to spend around $300 so I can ride around on the weekend with my 9 year old daughter, so no off road work or jumps or that kind of stuff. I have heard the horror stories on here about Kmart bikes and them falling apart so I'm looking for an Ozbargain diamond in the rough, TIA.

Street triple or Z900. Little bit above budget though

    A car

    • Because a car fits both the description and the price bracket…

This is a good deal for the specs:

I am not affiliated with Anaconda in any way. Came up in my email though! They have a cheaper lower spec model for about 300 at the moment if you're a member. it's free to join.

I saw that pauls warehouse is offering half price for all bikes. Check their website.

Do you actually need a mountain bike? Have a look (and maybe try out) a hybrid. Much easier to push around.
As mentioned by chumlee, try reid cycles. Good value, plus they are a dedicated bike store.

    • +1 for hybrid bikes. I find them way more comfortable for general riding then being on a race/mountain bike.

I go riding with my daughter on a Kuwahara 24” BMX bike. So, even consider that type of bike range. The Kuwahara certainly wasn’t in the $300 bracket though, but there are plenty of 24” BMX bikes for that price…

  • You don't need a mountain bike for weekend rides with the family… If you are in Brisbane, I have an recently serviced Avanti Blade you can have for that money…

  • Wait for hard garbage night. Drive around your area and find one that you like. I have found some really good bikes. Have found a couple of 80’s bmx bikes that I have bought back to life and sold for a very tidy profit.

THe Aldi MTB at around $349 was very good value. It must be due for a revisit soon.

You don't really need a mountain bike, a hybrid would do. If you do get a hybrid see if you can find one without suspension forks. All they do is add weight.

You will get a good bike for $300 second hand. You should be able to get a decent one for $200 and then spend a few of the remaining $ on a service. Many riders get the bug and upgrade so the old bike gets sold on in good condition, there are plenty of hybrids around for sale.

Find one in the street. Ride it like you stole it. That is all.

  • Thanks guys I will check out some hybrids

  • If you are in Sydney try - Decathlon Tempe
