Jomashop Watches legit?

has anyone purchased watches through jomashop before?

the watch i'm looking at is half than the retail price here and seems too good to be true.
they seem to offer their own RTB warranty rather than manufacturer.

They are legit, but grey market. Thus the RTB Warranty.

    • Can you clarify "grey market" in this context? My understanding is that high end watch brands typically don't have a "grey market" as they don't have differentiated pricing around the world.

For example (based on my understanding), a $20k Rolex in Australia will "more or less" be $20k around the world. They may be some variations due to local market conditions, exchange rates, greater local competition, etc., but these variations are typically not enough to create a "grey market" that anyone can make any money from.

      • That's Rolex though. You shouldnt be holding Rolex as the standard because they're in a unique position.

Everyone below Rolex, even my favourite Omega, has singificant grey markets, of which Joma is a prime example.

        • Fair enough, but just an example. Omega is certainly a nice choice.

It's just very confusing on all these items, especially when you're dealing with high dollar value purchases.

        • I dont think it ever makes sense to buy a Rolex here.

You get stung too hard on gst, import duty, distributor and B&M mark up… and to that, its a very small market meaning you have incredibly long wait times.

        • it's probably cheaper to fly to vegas, book into the Bellagio, go to see a couple of shows, take a trip to the grand canyon and Hoover Dam, refresh your wardrobe at the Miracle Mile shops and the oulets, then swing by the Rolex dealer, haggle for a discount and buy your watch in the US. Get the international warranty stamped and fly home. This will probably be cheaper than buying a Rolex here in Oz, or at least comparable in price depending on the model (ie maybe not cheaper for a Datejust but probably cheaper for a Daytona or GMT).

  • Have you tried Google? Even Bing or OzBargain have the search engine feature.

Have bought twice from them. Legit.

    • thanks

    • Sorry for the revival of the thread, but saved posting a new question.

Does the watch come as if you were buying from a dealer. Appreciate they grey imports / just trying to understand where the discount comes from… do I have to build the watch myself (kidding).

Interested in an Oris and the shop is 1/2 of the price that a local dealer will do ($1,200 aud ex gst vs $2300 ex).

      • I've not bought from Joma but I have bought from other Grey Market dealers. For a verified dealer selling real grey Market watches they normally come in the box with all the instructions but the warranty stamp/papers are either not signed/stamped or they are signed/stamped with joma. if you have a bracelet band it will not be sized for your wrist, you will either have to do that yourself or take it to a local jeweller for sizing. You will have to setup the time and any complications (2nd time zone etc) and the watch will likely still have the protective plastic patches on the band and face etc. other than that it should be assembled and ready to go. Not sure on batteries because I buy Automatic watches.

      • Tissot and Seiko watches. Both came with original box, tags and manuals. Warranty is with jomashop as not authorized dealer.
