$3 should be their regular price, considering how small they've gone.

      • Not really. I agree with haji, they have become smaller than before.

        • +1

          But they haven't.

They're still using the same size meat patties (1/10th of a pound), a bun to suit that patty size, cheese slice, lettuce, pickles, sauce and diced onion… That hasn't changed in the last 15 years at least since I worked there as a teen.

Maybe by 'before' you mean prior to that?

Although the price back then was $3.25 IIRC, which seems much more appropriate for what you're getting.

@itsMartin: But they have though…When i worked there as a teenager, they shrunk the size of all of the buns, including the big mac. The bun is smaller so the burger is smaller…still the same size patty, its just a much tighter fit on the bun. This was about 7 years ago

        • @dyllan: I do remember the buns getting smaller (I didn't work there at the time, but some people mentioned 1/4 inch shrink?).

When most people talk about the Big Mac getting smaller they don't talk about the slight reduction in bun size, they think it used to be quarter pounder sized when it wasn't.

        • @dyllan:

They changed the quarter pounder and mcchicken bun size in 2009 to bring it into line with the big mac. Big Mac itself hasn't changed since sometime in the 70s

No idea why you're being downvoted, last change to the big mac size was many years ago when they shrunk the bun, internals haven't changed since forever.

It does vary per country, but the idea that the big mac is constantly changing to improve profitability is bunk. People and their diets have become bigger.

        • One thing I've noticed apart from the size of the bun is that McDonalds here has gone super stingy on the sauce, they have used those sauce 'guns' for as long as I can remember, but they've definitely fiddled with how much comes out in each squirt.

Back in 2003-2004 when McChickens were less than $3, they used to have heaps of sauce. Slowly over the years they have become dryer and dryer. I also don't remember the Big Mac's being as low on sauce as they are now days.

No I barely eat Maccas and have been pretty much the same weight for the last 10 years. A Big Mac should be just that, big. Bun and meat should be the size of a Whopper.

        • So that's my point; it was never the size of a Whopper and its always been called a Big Mac.

Not showing up in my app, I got $2 off Large Cheeseburger Meal.

    • Shows up on mine…

Normally you can see the new offers after midnight, but not today or this morning, but when I just checked it was there.

If they are doing different offers based on location I'll just scrap this deal.

    • I've got the same $2 off a large cheeseburger meal in WA.

      • I'm in WA also, the only offer I see today is "$2 Snacks: Cheeseburger, Large Fries or 3 McNuggets".

Seems the offers vary from state and store. (or are targeted to certain users)

  • Was looking at the apps in play store, hesistant to install as it only got 1.7 star, how do you guys find the usefulness of this apps?

    • You'll start a war by asking that ;)

For some it works, others it doesn't, some get charged multiple times when using credit card.

I just use the Scan option on Kiosk and reduce my interaction with the app ;)

    • Useless apart from the deals, but worth the space on your phone. The low rating is because the app sucks in terms of knowing your location, crashes constantly, takes ages to load etc.

      • Would have thought Macca can do a better job with their huge resources, I have the KFC apps and find them pretty useful and user friendly. Will download the apps for the deals and can always remove if it annoys the shit out of me.

        • KFC App is done by NCR who have a huge investment in retail point of sale items, from hardware to software.

The rumor is Maccas was bluffed by someone who made their company seem bigger than actually was and wrote a bad app.

You only need to register for an account, subscribe to offers, don't need to give them a credit card, then wait about 10mins and the offers should appear down the bottom on the first screen when you open the app.

Sometimes you get a whoops/can't sign in etc, close the app and reopen normally fixes it.

To use in store, select the offer, hit scan, then on the Kiosk top right, hit Promo/Offers, scan your phone bottom left of the Kiosk or enter the code manually and it will bring up the deal. At registers they can just use the code if they know how to.

Continue ordering, select pay card or cash and Bob's your Uncle.

Things not on App, but are on the Kiosk, 24 Nuggets for $9.95 and the Box Meals.

        • @Tom2222: Thanks

I have bogof cheeseburger as my offer.

    • Which State?

Me VIC and have Big Mac $3

  • BOGOF Cheeseburger here in SA.

  • I'd up vote if it was a Double Whopper

  • $3 Big Mac - ACT

    • ACT as well, but have BOGOF cheeseburger??

  • it's like paying $1 extra than a McDouble to get a slither of shredded lettuce, big mac sauce and some bread.

    • And how is that bad exactly? Were you expecting it for free?

      • I didn't say it was good or bad, just pointing out the differences.

    • You also get an additional slice of cheese.

  • How do I nuke this deal post then?

    Too many options

    • Just Update the heading as Targeted Offer

  • It's show $3 big mac on my app - QLD

    • Mine shows $2 off the large cheese burger meal :(
So I guess the offers are targeted.

  • I've got BOGOF cheeseburger. VIC

  • Seems to be user based, I just change my store to some 15 other ones around Melbourne and it gave me the Big Mac $3 each time.

That's a good way to start your first post, a non standard Maccas deal that has been standard for weeks :(

If someone wants my Big Mac $3 code PM me.

  • Large cheeseburger meal before discount is $8.10!

    • LOL, good you see you were doing the work on Day 1 of a System Wide Change. Back into your hole.
