Wanted to share my experience and thoughts on the company Sendle

I'll start off by acknowledging this; yeh I'm definitely bias because I've only ever had bad experience with Sendle, I know some people seem to prefer them over Auspost because they're cheaper but I'm willing to bet those people lived in or near capital cities

They are simply contractors that assign parcels to existing couriers such as Courier Please, Toll, Fastway Couriers etc, often those with bad reviews and reputations.

It makes sense really, the companies with bad reviews can get more jobs via Sendle because their presence isn’t know, customers aren’t aware which company is handling their goods. Those couriers work out a good pricing with Sendle because they’re being brought more business, works out well for retailers.

But those couriers had overwhelmingly bad reviews for a reason,

My parcel was with a driver on 30 jan, no one ever turned up, I was home the whole day, and then what’s bizarre is the package was held for next delivery cycle, no idea what that meant, but I guess they only deliver every 3 days, or the courier which happened to get my package is unreliable. I wouldn’t know, because I can’t get any info.

Sendle don’t even have a business contact number, so I can’t call and find out which courier is handling my package in the hopes of calling them up directly. I have to wait a day for them to get back to my email,

For instance; https://imgur.com/a/ED9XJ
They say wait til Tuesday and only then they'll do something (but what exactly?)
yeh i suppose it's a fair reason to give it time,,, but isn't this industry time sensitive?
but more importantly the reason they want to wait and see is,, well because they can't really do anything, because they're not a courier company, they have no control or authority over various couriers that they are in business with

Was my package handed over to another courier? Why did the driver not come? Why was it held for 3 days? I can’t find out.

EDIT:
aaaaannnddd it's held again,
who knows why anymore

  • I started off using smart send. Initially they were average until there were too many no shows and the customer response was swear words and accusing us of sending multiple complaints.
Of course there were multiple complaints because multiple repeated pick ups didn't show up.
Their final reply was don't use us again.

Sendle I initially had a few minor issues but has had no problems.

    I guess it's pot luck

    • yeh pot luck is probably the most accurate, which means it can be so problematic,
No one ever knows which courier is actually being used

      • Smart sends reply was. Please do not abuse us we are just the third party.

        What a joke.

So if a restaurant serves contaminated food from the supplier it's ok. Cos they're just a third party who processes it.

The customer service in this country is a joke

        • I wouldn't be surprised if you too experience trouble with Sendle as well (maybe no in terms of a reply like that lol)

only because I'm willing to bet Sendle uses similar smaller couriers if not the same ones

  • Only had one parcel delivered by sendle and it got stuck at the local depot for some reason, I could have gone and picked it up but it took days for sendle to tell me who the local depot was…. Figured it out eventually but bulk hassle.

  • Got few ok with sendle, then one marked at delivered without turning up. Next day the tracking says on board again. And received.

  • I used Sendle for the first time last week and had a great experience. I thought I would give them a go because of the eBay promo where your first send is free. I sent a 12kg box with no issues.

The courier arrived first thing in the morning so I wasn't waiting around all day. It was delivered in 5 working days when the delivery estimate for Perth to Brisbane was 6-7 days.

    • lucky you, i guess you got picked a good courier,

my delivery driver just decides not to show up twice this week now lol,
      got held again

  • Use Temando or Interparcel instead - you can choose what courier you want to use based on the prices offered by each. They've been around for many more years than Sendle and I've found them to be cheaper on average.

    • the problem is I ordered from an online store,
      the choice was
      'courier'
      or 'auspost'

'courier' option was 5buks cheaper so I thought, why not? I only live an hour and half away from the store, can't be big of a differene

wish stores would be more specific :(
I just assumed it was something like startrack which I've had good experience with

      • Oh sorry, I misread and thought you were the sender.

Do you have the courier tracking number by chance? Then I might be able to tell you which courier service it's with

        • i was only supplied with the sendle reference code, there aren't any courier specific info

        • @jay0514:bummer. Good luck with the delivery OP

    • +1

Thanks for recommending Interparcel. They would have been cheaper for my recent pickup for the courier I prefer.

I recently had to ship an item and was debating using Sendle or Temando.

I've used Temando for a number of years and had nothing but really positive experiences with them - especially using Couriers Please.

I ended up using Temando again despite Sendle being cheaper for the simple fact that while insurance is included on the item, there is a $100 excess applicable. Temando allow you to opt in for insurance and the PDS says up to $400 there is no excess. I gladly went with this after the last item I sold went MIA from AusPost and I did not have Extra Cover (a calculated risk I took).

However, I used Fastway who were entirely hopeless at collecting my item. Due for pick-up 3 days ago it was only collected today after I chased up the driver. I feel for my buyer who has probably been waiting for days for an item, similar to the OP's situation.

TL;DR - Be careful of Sendle and their $100 excess, and not all couriers are the same. It helps if you can find a number to chase them up with, though.

    • the fact that they do not have a contact number was the biggest shocker,
the store didn't even have a number to call, I would've thought, a store that does business with Sendle at least they would have gotten a special number to call,
      but nop,
all they could do was sending an email, just like me, and get a reply a day later saying basically 'wait til next tuesday,'

  • I have used Sendle 4 times. 3 good experiences and 1 bad one (took 3 pickup attempts with untrue reasons noted). I am still happy to use them.

  • MATE I HEAR YA!!! Absolute (profanity) JOKE! I was soo excited for my package.
    1) First said sign up to get more detailed tracking information. I signed up and nothing new same shit was showing as I was not signed up.
    2) I get a message your parcel is DELIVERED! I run down to see nothing there!
    3) Looked closer and it said, 'Delivery attempt failed, please arrange redelivery.' I said ok.
    4) Looked everywhere AND NO (profanity) CONTACT NUMBER OR EMAIL!!!
    5) Filled in enquiry form and day later they said they could delivery between 8am-6pm and I said NO ONE who work would in at home or work for 10 hours!!
    6) Package is SENT BACK TO SENDER.

FML. can't describe my frustration and anger towards them. BTW I live in a cbd

  • Sendle have terrible service which is why they're costs are so cheap - you can't get them to reply to emails and there is no number to call. I've sent three emails over 10 days regarding an overseas parcel and still no reply!!!
