Dog flea treatment dripping on the side

Have anyone used those flea and anti-worming that uses the pipette on the back of the dog? We used to use those flea collars but they don't last very long and can't find them anymore so our vet recommend "advocate" so we tried it and followed the instructions to put it on the back shoulder blade of the dog but it seem to be dripping on the side. It seems for the larger version for big dogs its to be used at multiple spots on the back but our smaller one is on one spot.

Wondering if I should wash it off or something. Its getting absorbed on everything the dog been too like its dog bed.

Make sure you part the hair and squirt it directly onto the skin. It gets absorbed and shouldn't drip down like that.

    • Yeah I did that, how big should it be? I part the hair about the size of a 5c coin.

        read the instructions.

        • It literally just say "part the fur between your dog’s shoulder blades and place the tip of the tube on the skin". Does not mention how big should it be.

If it's dripping, you're probably squirting more quickly than it can be absorbed. Just change technique, or do a couple of spots along the backline. On most dogs, position is less important, just make sure the dog cannot reach around to lick it.

    • Yeah, I'll try this next time using the bigger dog method.

It is a bit hard at first, but after a few more tries you'll get better. I've got a big dog so I do it in 3 spots, each spot is probably 5cm long just because there's too much liquid and I need more surface to put it on. As others have mentioned, you probably used too much liquid in one spot that's why it drips.

I think i'm going to try your method next time, make a line instead of a dot kinda spot and if that still drips then the 3 different spots. My dog is more of a medium size dog.

part the hairs between the shoulder blades and apply directly to the skin. If he/she is a big dog and the pippette has a large volume you can apply onto 2-3x areas along the back (just make sure they are areas the dog can't reach and lick off).
