12V Cordless Drill/Driver Recommendations

Hi there

I'm looking for a compact and lightweight drill/driver for general tasks around the home. Probably looking at 12V given generally lighter than 18V models.

Appreciate any suggestions based on experience.

Thanks

Stephen

    Ozito is fine

  • This 12V one is good.
    Even comes with free delivery!

  • Go 18v, opens up many more options down the track, if weight is a big issue just use lower capacity batteries as that probably makes a bigger difference than 12v vs 18v. The Ozito PowerXChange range is generally good value for DIY this one would probably do what you need and Ozito's warranty is great. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-drill-d…

    • Agree. The extra power of an 18v unit is worth it and the ability to use the same battery in another tool is great. Lower capacity batteries are fairly light and work fine in a drill. My 18v gear is Ryobi, but suspect they are much the same unless you get into the premium brands.

  • Thanks.

Any thoughts on a reasonable set of driver bits? (I already have a reasonable collection of drill bits).

    • Any thoughts on what bits you’ll need? Most drill/drivers will come with a Phillips and slot head bit. I’ve found them reasonable.

Additional bits can be bought as you need them. It’s not often you get stuck needing a new size, style without going to the hardware first. So far I’ve really only used a 5mm hex/Allen key bit for bugle screws, a square bit for flooring screws and a hex socket bit for roofing/colourbond screws.each bit only costs a few bucks and the flooring screws came with one in the box.
