    Posaibly. Saw the other day people arent donating now as much, rather sell/give away free from their own home via gumtree etc.

      Usually this is when they have finally sorted through everything and have way too much stock they need to move.
      Occasionally individual stores used to do this but I haven't heard of doing statewide.

Traditionally, they are busiest post-Christmas. Probably clearing some old stock to make room.
