Thanks for pizza, by the way.

  • They'll all put you on time of use billing if you have solar. This will mean that peak rate will be pretty close to that.

      Nonsense.
All, or almost all suppliers will let you choose which tariff.
I am with Energy Locals, but AGL and Origin also offered flat tariffs under 28c per kWh with feed in tariffs over 10c kWh.
You just need to look at your usage and weign up the various feed in tariffs, and usage fees.

      • That also applies to smart meters at least in NSW. I had a smart meter installed that meters two solar systems, peak and off peak usage and was able to stay on the same plan I had before installation.

Retailers are known for stuffing up import/export - A workmate had solar installed recently and was being charged peak rate for electricity exported to the grid.

Call AGL and tell them to sort it out.

    • Yes that can be confusing, what I see as solar export (selling), my retailer (AGL) calls that import (buying) as it is going into their system. Similarly they are exporting (selling) their power for me to use (buying)

  • I am with power shop currently
My normal rate is 30.69 cents per Kwh but if I pay ahead a month or so I get it discounted. My march rate if paid ahead is 26.05 cents per kwh. My solar feed in is .128 cents. Those are all day rates.

I am changing to Origin as they offered a 28% (you have to say you seen it online) discount on their regular rates - they told me it would bring it down to approx .2255 cents per KWh. The feed in tariff is only about .0925 and the supply charge is 155. cents per day.

No one has suggested I use peak and off peak rates.

keep in mind that the supply charges vary too. At power shop mine is 163.89 cents per day.

    (all my numbers include GST)
