I saw these conical burr grinder with reduced stamps on it at aldi - Southpoint Shopping Centre - Hillsdale. I don't know if they will stamp reduced price for future boxes when the ones there are gone - $49.99 was $79.99. So I quickly grabbed one as it is a conical burr grinder not one with a blade

  • I only used it once so far, on grind setting 5 for my cappuccino machine and the coffee came out nice. I am happy with the product so far, although I have not tried the other grind settings yet. I like how it is different to my sisters coffee grinder which uses a blade and I don't like it. With conical burr the coffee grinds come out all the same size and you don't have to waste time like on the blade grinder where you have to keep grinding until you think youve got the right grind size. I hope it doesn't break down early because I like it

    • Here are some tips (for other burr grinders) when you want to change the grind settings

Follow them at your own risk as I don't know what would happen if you change the settings while the grinder is running.

From youtube video - comments section

      This is what he wrote:

And here's a tip when using your burr grinder, if you want to adjust or change the grind size, and there are beans in the hopper, you should only do it while the machine is running. Turning the adjustment back and forth while the hopper is full can damage your burrs or throw off the alignment of them if there are beans in between them when the motor is stopped.

      Another tip at https://www.baratza.com/grinding-tips/

Does the grinder need to be running to make adjustments?

Please adjust the grind setting either with the unit completely empty of coffee, or with the machine running. When adjusting to a finer grind setting, the burrs are drawing closer together. If there are beans in the burrs and the unit is off, the beans are resisting the movement of the burrs. Running the grinder kicks out the large particles that are resisting the adjustment. If the unit is completely empty of coffee, there is no need to run the machine as there are no beans resisting burr movement.

This ia what I do (safer way I think)

When I want to change the grind settings, I make sure no coffee is in the hopper or burr part before I change the settings. I run it for 2 seconds to make sure the grinder is completely empty, then I change the grind setting. I don't want to change the settings while its running as suggested in the above tips as I don't know what will happen if I do that, it might break who knows
