Anyway, though I don't bother, and surely most of our incompetent staff at the Woolworths I work at don't even know, Woolworths bananas are also 50 cents each - though it's much quicker to just charge people by weight for a single banana, so usually cost less during banana seasonThanks, from personal exp there are never any bananas in the evenings at Melb Central. But I might look at the office one. 7/1 is on our block, and Safeway/Coles next block over.

Nah, metro is just small scale stores, more a competition to coles express. Safeway has bought it in Australia ages ago, and mostly just Victoria was slow with the rebranding.
I was told that Traralgon in the Latrobe valley region was last large Safeway to finally get converted? Only happened last year.Will always be Safeway to me though. Sounds better in the jingle.
Prices vary in different states but for the past few months a 200g banana will set you back around 70c at either Woolies and coles in melb and considering the lack of fruit shops in the cbd I don't think this is a bad deal if you're on the go and the bananas are a decent size.
