Phone Left out in Sun: Battery Life Fixable?

About six months ago, I accidentally dropped my OnePlus One on the driveway where it spent around 8 hours in the burning sun. Of course, while it survived the battery life has never been the same. A replacement battery via a reputable eBay seller did not seem to fix it. It takes about six hours while turned off to reach a full charge, from which I get about 90 minutes worth of use. Under use, it drains faster than it can charge. The charge indicator is wildly inaccurate, with the phone often turning off at 30% capacity or showing 100% when flat. It's extremely frustrating and I'm toying with the idea of getting another OPO, second-hand, and using this one for parts if ever need be.

Is my phone fixable? Did I just get a dud replacement battery?

Does it behave the same with new and old battery?

If it does, time to get a new phone. Wouldn't waste any more time trying to fix it.

    • Yes. If nothing else, I'd at least like to know how the heat affected battery capacity if the battery itself wasn't the issue.

Yeh that sudden shutdown is a crap battery… Buy a Moto g5 plus, mines great lol

    • That's definitely been a top-three candidate for a replacement phone.

  • could be a stuffed new battery.

have you done a hard reset to calibrate the phone to the new battery?

how long have you had the new battery.?

    • I don't believe so. It's been in the phone for about 6 months.

I've purchased a new replacement from AliExpress. Hopefully I have better luck this time.

    Sounds like a stuffed battery.

Buying a replacement is a minefield, so many fakes.

  • Just remember what new stands for;
    Never
    Ever
    Worked.

    • I like your name, I think people around here have a real feel for it.

I'm impressed it took you 8 hours to notice it missing. Generally about 5 minutes in my household.

    • I dropped it while walking to the car for work. It remained there until I was able to get home. :/
