Comparing Panasonic 8kw and 7.1kw Split Air Con and Fujitsu

Hi legends , hoping I can get some feedback on a split air con i’m thinking please. I need a split which is reversible and thinking about Panasonic because apparently it’s good with allergy and cooling technology etc . The good guys electrician said 7.1 kw is good for my living area but I wanted to see if you guys think the 8kw would be more affective and is worth the extra like $400 ? Also, is it worth going with Fujitsu in case anyone has used it please ? The link for 7.1 kw is : https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/panasonic-c71kw-h80kw-reverse…

  • What is the area of the room you're putting it in? How does the sun rise and set in your home? Front to back of house, left to right etc.

  • Have you used a calculator to work out the size you need for your living space? It's the most important point in my opinion. It's all well and good the contractor saying that unit is good, but you might as well get some independent confirmation also.

Basically, if the unit is underpowered, you'll be running the unit more often/harder - resulting in higher energy bills.

  • It’s in the living room with high ceiling and meant to cool down kitchen and a room not far from it . The area is big enough for 2+ dining tables . Sun rises at back and set towards from of the house and this will be 90 degrees to it . Left to right . Also comparing the Fujitsu if it’s good enough as they have $200 cash back but more inclined to Panasonic

    errr?

    • Length Width height… Do you not own a tape measure? Bunnings also sell them.

      • He doesn't own a tape measure but has 2 dining tables, a 8 seat dining table and 6 seat dining table.

        L x W x H is as follows:

        (3 x 8 seat dining table) x (8 seat dining table + 6 seat dining table) x (2 x 6 seat dining table)

The volume of the area to be cooled is approximately 8.1 x (width of 8 seat dining table + width of 6 seat dining table)^3.

Recently had a Mitsu Heavy Industries 7kw installed. With the outside unit you can stand alongside it and not know that it is running… silent as. Very happy with the unit.
BTW… got it from Bunnings… a massive saving over other sources at $1434 less a $100 cash back from MHI.

    • I never knew Bunning sold MHI. Great price too.

At the same price, I'd go MHI over Panasonic.

At a cheaper price, it's a no brainer!

      • I'll go with Mitsubishi also.

    • I had a Mitsubishi and it died after 7 years.

Changed to a Fujitsu. So far going good.
They don't last like they used to.
Btw, usually their warranty is 6 years.

      Cheers

    • Had ours mounted up on the wall about 1mr this time.
The old one was an Airwell 7kw and was on the concrete in the dirt and water so would not have helped longevity.
I see that some installers will only install them to wall mounts now.
This site has a lot of good no nonsense info on a/c and installation.

  • Thanks a lot guys . Reading all this makes me think I should consider mistu as well but will stick to 7.1 as I plan to use it only on hot days

    • It is a 7.1.

  • We use splits system in our servers room fujitsu and they run 24/7……had a new rental house which had a panasonic split system and a year later the "outside" unit failed due to water ingress…thats the only expirence with panasonic but failed in the middle of the summer and repair took like 3 weeks….so had to go and buy a portable AC…

I've had Panasonics and Fujitsu splits before, 4 Pana and 3 Fuji in total.

Both worked well, I would say a lot of the failures would be related to installation issues.

      • There is a lot of careless installers out there.
