Honda CIVIC RS / VTI-LX or Hyundai I30 SR / SR Premium

Hi ladies, Gents,

In process of looking for a new car with budget of not more than 30,000.

I am considering between Hyundai i30 Sr / SR premium or Honda Civic RS / VTi-Lx

I very much like about the honda's aftermarket parts availability and its bigger following?

Honda seems to be costing more as I found a Honda CIVIC RS Sedan 2017 with 5000 km for 30,000. For 2 thousand less i could get the Hyundai i30 SR premium 2017 with 11000 km for 28000.

read on whirlpool that the cheapest i have seen for Hyundai i30 sr is around 28500 automatic and for Honda CIvic RS is 32000 and Civic VTI-Lx around 33,500.

I am in WA, went to a few shops, it seems that Honda demo / used car price the dealers are not moving. :( when asked in shop, the best they could do for Civic RS is 34,000.

Hope to get your feedback.

Thank you.

Justin

Had the same choice and ended up with the i30 SR and love it.

A much better looking and feeling car, better engine, better features (Android Auto, Carplay, Safety Pack etc.)

    • oh yeah i watched review saying i30 is better. i am tryign to find a good priced i30 sr. will see…

how you finding the i30 sr?

      • What kind of price do you WANT?

I manage to land one last weekend for decent price I think, 27.5K (auto, white with mats/fuel)

    • How is it going with your i30 SR. I am looking at buying 2018 model but I hear some complaints in general about DCTs and then some forum posts saying the i30 SR started showing problem of not getting accelerated when the car slows down at roundabouts, in situations like slowing down for merging from shoulder lanes to highways etc and driver having to push accelerator 2-3 times before it can accelerate and move.. How has been your experience?

  • Audi A1

  • Had the same choice and just got the i30 SR. Every review I read said the SR Premium is overpriced.

Also, Ferntree Gully Hyundai can get below 28K including rubber mats, boot liner and window tinting. Just a tip ☺

    • wow….that's for a new I30 SR?

      • Yup, brand new with white paint.

Also, don't forget that the i30 SR won Car Advice Car of the Year for 2017 - both in the small car and overall categories.

I've had mine for just over 4 weeks now and am absolutely loving it!

Honda Civic RS / VTi-Lx more reliable.

    • i heard some people complaining about the rattling sound on forums?

But historically honda have been a reliable brand.

There's a good reason why many autos are now using CVTs. Drive manual if you don't like it.

      • You cannot buy a regular Civic with a manual.

        • yea unfortunately aus dont get maunal civic unlike uk. buy old civic or type r is the only way to drive honda manual

If you are not fixated on either the Hyundai or Honda. Give Holden Astra Hatch or Ford Focus S a try. A 2017 company executive vehicle with all the bells and whistles (camera, sensors, lane departure warning, active cruise control, sunroof) should cost less than $25k driveaway.
