Need Help from a Company Not Refunding My Payment

Hi.

I have a few questions about getting my money back from a subscription type plan.

I pay monthly for an Adobe AI plugin service and no longer wish no pay. However my plan is still active and I want to get a refund from my last automatic payment. I have contacted the business multiple time, but they keep saying that they can't refund active subscription even though the key has not been used as I am still using last months key. My plan was active on Jan 06 canceled on Jan 29. I have emailed them multiple times and now they are just ignoring me. I think that they are trying to buy time so that it will past 30 days.

Can I get PayPal to cancel it? or can I get the ACCC involved even though it is a US based company?

If it's a preapproved payment schedule from Paypal you can cancel it

As for the disputed payment you could go via Paypal and worst comes to worse chargeback via your CC company.

      this, make sure you remove.

    • I removed it from my active payment section but it still said preapproved. The only option i got was shipping refund, but it is a digital good.

  • What do the terms and conditions state?

    • No contract can cancel anytime
Can't refund used keys or when plan is activated

      • May be no contract but there will still be terms and conditions attached to usage

  • did you try to cancel before the subscription renewal date?

    • Yes but the payment is set up to pay early 5 days.

      • how long have you been subscribing to this service? did you know that the payment is always taken early?

  • Did you cancel it before it renewed?

  • Keep in mind some services require 30 days notice for cancellation, even without a fixed term contract.

But otherwise, if they refuse to respond and you paid on credit card you can raise a dispute with your bank.

The ACCC will do nothing if it's not an Australian company.
